Is'nt Break in THE most boring thing ever
I was breaking in my car today (eb4) and for the first tank i idled it with a few twitches on the throttle, then ive been going round each time getting faster and faster on each tank im onto my fourth after a whole day this has got to be THE MOST boring thing to do with nitro rc, SNORE, well i think this anyway, i dont under stand how anyone can find going around at halk throttle for 1/2 an hour is fun being careful not to go too fast

Broke in my .12 Novarossi basically the same way - must have taken about a week because i just couldn't be bothered to go outside and spend 15odd minutes going through 1 tank at 1/3 throttle.
The .21 in my MGT however - full throttle in a huge carpark as per the manual. Much better!

Yeah, seems to be Thunder Tigers method of breaking in an engine. Didn't know any better back then, so i did it!
Seems to have worked though, 4 gallons and the engine is running great!

I performed the first break in in this hobby last week with my new Peak Diablo in my RS4, i didn't think of it as boring. I thought it was rather fun (being the first time)

u know im trying to break mine in, and when i try to start it i have to give it gas on the controller to get it to start and as soon as i let off, it dies, then when it doesnt do that, it trys to take off on me so i only got 3 tanks through, and im trying to get my car running enough to get the last 2 or 3 but if im not on the throttle it shuts off

Most buggy fuel tanks are 125cc or that is the biggest most sanctions allow unless it is a out law tank. Yes breaking in a new engine is a pain but I all ways break mine in, in one day.

Break-in is pretty darned boring...
I don't mind, though, because it usually means that you have something shiny and new to play with. [8D]

Yeah, its too tempting to just hit the throttle. But at least you dont just watch it idle for 30 minutes...

Well seeing as it goes dark at 3:30, I cant do it in a day, AND IM WELL ANNOYED!!! wheree i live there is an almost straight and half way down it there is a lmap post right in the middle of the road...I thikn youcan guess what i did at 3/4 throttle...and brakes....Naa it wasnt much damage just a cracked fuel tank but they cost about 15 to replace and thats in £, s oit works out pretty expensive, and what annoys me is that part on all eb4s is the part that break VERY easily, THE FUELTANK

RE: Is'nt Break in THE most boring thing ever
Yese, break-in sucks and requires patience of a saint. But it is very necessary.
I have done the manual's recommended method of break-in and have scrapped that idea all together. Some of the break-in methods in the owner's manual just down right suck. I have for some time (and with success of prolonged engine life) used the heat cycling method. See the follong link, post #6 by Fuelman:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2786285/tm.htm
If you want to do the heat cycling method (the best method for ABC engine break-in to date), Fuelman's post #6 is the way to go. You can basically ignore the first 5 posts, they are attempts to explain other break-in methods.
I said it dozens of times before, I truely believe that Fuelman's post #6 should be made into a sticky. The idea of breaking in an engine with the vwhicle on blocks idling sucks. It's terrible that engine manuals still say to do this.

heat cycle, heat cycle, heat cycle it's not boring. think about it the manual say's idle two tank's[:'(]. i'd rather DRIVE two tank's. never believe everything you read in the manufacturer's manual's. read them yes but also do some outside research.
