Default Best tuned pipe for high RPM Performance

I'm thinking about buying a tuned pipe for my RS4 3 type SS but I don't know whats good and whats not. I want one that gives the most horsepower in the upper RPM ranges.

Thanks

Default Pipes

Paris is a good pipe, MIP makes some good pipes also. I run Nova pipes which are a little expensive but they have a good power range.
I had a $20 MIP pipe that I ran for a racing season and it was one of the best pipes I have ever used. Somehow it ended up getting sold with one of my cars.
Maybe I need to find a new one.

Paris is good. Some of the better one's are: novarossi, novamega, rb, and even yokomo.

If you can use and afford a one-piece (in-line), that would be the way to go.

Here is the best pipe for the RTR 3 and SS kits in my opinion. It is a one-piece pipe kit and is a bit pricy, but comes with headers also. It is a real race-quality pipe/header set. This is the pipe I am gonna go with. Heres the link:

P.S. DG2B and DBOW, hope you like this pipe also! ha ha.

Hope this helps your decision,
Kevin

kevetz99 - looked at the link. That pipe looks good and its a one-piece (in-line).

Do you know how many chambers? Did not say in the link

How does it help to have more chambers?
Like if a pipe has a similar shape.. what the difference between 2 and 3 chambers?
I guess a 3 chamber pipe has a less "forceful" wave?

I don't truly understand the chamber concept in a pipe but here are info that might either help or confuse you. I also believe that more chambers does not mean better but two is better than one

The pipe uses pressure waves or pulses emanating from the combustion chamber to effectively supercharge the cylinder. Each time the piston uncovers the exhaust port, the pulse of exhaust gases rushing out the port and into the pipe creates a positive pressure wave. But there will be waves reflected back towards the start of the pipe which carry a negative pressure waves.

The negative wave can arrive too early and pull fresh mixture out of the cylinder before combustion. By putting another cone, reversed to be convergent, on the end of the first divergent, would reflect positive waves back up the pipe. These positive waves would follow the negative waves back to the exhaust port, would stuff the fresh mixture that was pulled into the pipe back into the exhaust port right as the piston closed the port.

The stinger also plays an important rule. It acts as a pressure bleed. Back pressure in the pipe, caused by a smaller-diameter or longer stinger section, helps the wave action of the pipe, and can increase the engine's performance.

Yea, I am not really sure how many chambers it has either, but I am guessing more than one because it is pretty expensive. I really do not know though. Can't help you out there.

I'm sure this link has seen more than it's fair share action on this board, but it's still kind of the definitive source for tuned pipes:

Just for kicks, I put on my old RC 10 GT pipe on my RS4 3 RTR and was totally blown away at the top-end scream I got from it. It never-ever ran like that before. I played with the air mixture twice and it totally rips. It is a little soft off the very bottom, but when it comes on.......... This weekend I will put on the CVEC pipe I put on the GT to see how it works.

Kevetz THS OEM's their parts fromRD Logics This is the tuned pipe I have on my MT Racer and it kicks phat ass!

Nice sound as well as high end RPMS that you mentioned you were looking for. If you need extra power to overtake peeps on tunrs this is the pipe I would recomend!

That nasty plastic HPI pipe that comes with the MT Racer should only be used to smoke crak out of

That THS pipe looks really nice. Except in order for it to fit on the RS4 3 it would be upside down. Is it ok to run it like that?

never mind, I looked at it again it will be right side up

also comparing to to the example pipes on that web page that pipe seems like its more suited for low RPM power. I"m no expert though

Thank you very much,

Default Best tuned pipe for high RPM Performance

Hey MoneyLuv,

I don't know if you know this, but I am wondering what the difference between the Turbo Pipe for the RTR 3 and the normal pipe for the RTR 3? What are the positives/negatives? Anyone know?

Thanks,
Kevin

dagass - thanks for the link. I will read it again to compare what I know and what the link stated. Quick look at the site shows to be good. Hope it proves to be the same with details.

MoneyLuv - thanks for the info. Now I know why it looked familiar. I saw those at speedtech for $39.

Default Best tuned pipe for high RPM Performance

Hi, I have been away for 4 days. I think im going to get it in the next few days but I didn't get a reply to my last post which was saying it looks more like a low end RPM pipe from the pictures on that site.

Also i can't find the page to order the turbo version on the RDlogic site. When I click on add to car it just takes me to the normal pipe page and not the turbo version.

Thanks
Kyle

Ok, good. Please be sure to do that. You could start a new thread, or just add on to this one. What ever you want. I am interested to hear about it.
