Kind of an open question isn't it? How 'bout some more info on what you're interested in? You'll get some opinions.

the engine itself doesn't make any given car the fastest. It has more to do with the mods. and the person who tunes the engine. More info is needed to answer your question. Kind of sounds like a newb question. Prove me wrong.

Also remember that there are 2 factors that go into any engine
HP and Tprque!

The usable range of torque is also a very important feature..
Onroad engine tend to whip out high amounts at HP at high speeds while buggy engines are more torque oriented since they really need to "get up n go" coming out of a corner!
The italian engines are generally close to the top but you wanna check out the others too

Go to rccar (San Jose) and rams (Santa Clara) and see some of the guys with very deep wallet running JP, Rody, Richey, and others modified motors.

But then again, you still need to provide us with info as asked by others.

I tend to agree with the others that say, we need more info to make a wise and intelegent recomendation. If it were me, in a .12 size motor, I would say JPracing modified(rear exhaust), Novarossi CT12(side exhaust), Novamega sx.12 (side exhaust), mugen MT12(rear exhaust), and Rossi Pixy Black(side and rear exhaust). Those are all good motors with high RPM and good power, but it all depends on what kind of Money you are looking for and what type of racing you are doing. If you are just wanting to sprint up and down the street, I can't see spending $300-$400 for an engine. If you are racing, you need to choose a motor for that size track. Remember, on a smaller track you can very easily overpower a car.

The new 2.5 has a lot of power from what people at the track have to say. I know a few people that have the fantom engine and they say that you have to stay on top of it to keep maximum performance out of it, constantly retuning the engine.

The fantom .15 gives out 1.25 horse, and, as dynoed, the 2.5 gives out 1.33 horse.

Just curious, not picking, truely curious, where did you find the information on that engine? I am spending $350-$400 for my JPracing engines and I am only getting 42,000-43,500 RPM on the dyno. I might get one and dyno it so I could post the information. If it is 50,000, they better make one hell of a lot of them because they have just became the fastest most powerful engine on the market.

Again I dont mean to step on anyones toes.. but

Good driving is only 30% Machine and 70% Skill.
I'm curently in the lookout for a "most powerful" buggy engine.. and I'm not saying I follow the old adage.. but I'm just trying to spread the word..
Actually I'm after the "most powerful" myself for my buggy! lol

Yea, I have been wondering that too. I bet they just dyno the engine alone, with something attached to the crank shaft to tell power and rpm.

Here's the link to the 2.5 that shows the engine hit's almost 50,000 rpm (Scroll down to the bearing section).

There's a magazine on news stands right now (I thought it was R/C Nitro, but I could be mistaken), they dynoed the 2.5 at .97 hp. The Fantom .15 is rated at 1.25 hp, but I haven't seen a dyno on this motor yet. If the Fantom puts out anything close to what it's rated at, it's a steal at just $119!

Yeah I saw that, but it was also dynoed at .97 hp. Just goes to show no two engines, or dyno scenarios are alike. If I can find what magazine this test was in, I'll post it.
