I've been looking for a tuned pipe for a while, not for racing or anything so thats not a concern. The concept of the pipe sounds great being adjustable and all. Anyone have one? do you like it? any problems? Lemme know.

The CVEC's are nice pipes.. they are adjustable, and they also alow you to tap them and put the exhaust pressure plug where ever you want... (very nice if you have an HPI)

Are they worth 50$? I don't know.. I didn't think so...

But if you have the cash, and like the looks, go for it..

Oh, and plan on cutting new holes in all your bodies...

I run the CVEC on my RC 10 GT. I love the way I can tune it. I can give it great bottom end for racing tracks or jumping, or in 5 minutes or less I can give it killer top-end speed for the street. The construction seems really good and it comes with no pressure fitting installed so you can put it where ever you want. I recommend it for sure.

mattymx, Do you have to readjust your carb settings when you change the settings on the pipe?

I played around with it a little bit but I found that it was pretty close to the settings I was running before. It needed no more than a 1 hour on the high speed (leaner) and I leaned out the low speed just a tick. It sounds great and it really does change the personallity of the engine by tuning it differently. I have yet to read the head temp with this pipe, so I hope this weekend I will hook up with my friend a get a reading.

Hey Matt,
What notch are you using to get the best low end?

Tator.... With the pipe in the top notch (for best top end) it still puts out better bottom end I feel than the stock pipe. The thing is a wheelie monster with it in the lowest posisition while I have my street set-up on the car. It is like having 2 cars. Well maybe not THAT good, but I like it. You do lose a bit of top end speed for sure with it in the lowest clip, but it will only bother you when you rip up and down the street.

The directions say something like tune the pipe and engine for top end then tune it for low end or something weird like that. I just tuned the engine by feel and sight of smoke. I will run it rich until it coughs on the top end and then lean it out a little so it revs well. I like to run mine a little on the rich side and it turned out the setting I liked best inside the pipe (top end) was just a tad leaner than the setting I ran with the stock pipe. It is really easier than the directions make it out to be. The pipe is a little quieter than the stock pipe too. Also make sure that you put the baffle in and leave half the threads out for the rest of the pipe to screw onto.
