hi i have a electric rustler that i don't want any more so i was planning to hook up bout five model rocket engines to it.[sm=biggrin.gif][sm=biggrin.gif][sm=biggrin.gif] So i was wondering what parts i could take out to make it as light as possible but still be able to steer it. Thanks in advance tom.

well if you still want to steer it then you need the rx, servo, esc ithink, and you can take out the motor, but let me let you in on a little secret, i would be willing to take that rustler off your hands for you before you destroy it, or just the transmission would be nice too

Basically the only electronics you need are your servo, rx, and a receiver pack or your esc and battery pack. If you rip out the drivesplines you will have alot less driving resistance as the tranny would not have to turn.
I think law requires you to make a vid of this

But yes you should only need a battery, reciever, and a servo I dont think you will need a esc for that though but maybe you will. Yeah take the tranny out, a lot less resistance, but here's an idea. Maybe you could build a ramp and well you know what to do. Just make sure you get a good vid of it, and have several video camera's there for different angles especially if you ramp it.

i think doahh is right here, from a standstill there will be so much thrust that u will not be able to controll it. u will prolly need to have a good running start.

Ok heres what you do take the rusty take out the esc motor tranny strap 1 turbine to the rear shock tower then 2 bottle rockets on each side of the turbine whip out the video camera start filming like them suckers up and GO!!! and yes a ramp would be a nice added extra

Make them 2 stage like the guys in this video did so it goes longer. http://youtube.com/watch?v=HNIm3A2Qdqg

Yes a ramp would work. You could also just keep everything the way you have it set up right now but switch to a 3ch radio, and control your rockets from the 3rd channel. That way you could get up to speed and light the rockets whenever you want.........like in the air

If you really want to make it a hit you need a ramp down for the running start and then a ramp up to see if you could break or make an RC jump record. Now that would be the s _ _ t [>:] lol

well if you want a purely rocket powered R/C you should remove several components. First off take off the entire tranny and motor. Then take off the battery and any battery mounting parts. Also remove the ESC and mounting parts. You should power the RX from a rechargeable 5 cell pack. Also remove the differentials and driveshafts of the car. You will need to keep the axles in so that the wheels will stay put, but upgrading to bearings at the axles would be a good idea. You will be able to use a 2ch radio for this R/C since only one channel will be needed for steering and the other channel can be used for igniting the rockets. You should look into the pico switch for igniting the rockets. It will weigh less than adding a servo to manually ignite the rockets.

I say use the Huge "G" rocket motors. They are absolutely nuts. Get about 5 of those. THen get 5 "E" rocket motors, and tape those behind the "G" motors so that once the "E" motors run out, they explode, which ignites the "G" motors. The "E" motors will get the running start it needs. Then the G motors will make it go so fast, it'll probably go airborn.

I'm sorry i got a better idea its just like bte214 but i use a smaller size rocket engine then like a 2 stage bigger and faster engines go off and then i go from there.
