Hello im a noobie in RC
ive started in r/c helicopters and wanting to go to some cars^^
Im trying to find ways to gain a average controler is there any way that i can use an rc helicopter remote with the reciever and transmitter and transfer it to an rc car kit

I also need to know about kits what i need to get and etc
cause im looking at some electic kits its say that it comes with a motor
and do i need anything else?
and any good places i could get these suff i live around sydney

I don't know about the laws in Australia, but 72 is reserved for air and 27 and 75 for surface in the states. Cars use two and three channel TX's and Rx's so I don't believe it possible to use it. As for the things you will need if they aren't included: transmitter, reciever, servo, motor, ESC or msc, pinion, battery, and charger.

In the realm or purely possible, yes you could use a heli radio for a car. you would only need 2 or three of the channels, and the reciever would probobly dominate the interior of the car, but it could be done. is ti legal? that you would have to look into for your country.

I see European guys with stick radios all the time. Its more than possible. I think it would be harder to operate a truck with a stick radio, but thats just me.

As far as US statutes go, the FCC has reserved certain frequencies for the use of R/C vehicles. The actual law regarding them is a bit more vague. For instance, you CAN use the 27mhz frequencies for air or land vehicles. So, there is at least one way you can use a stick radio for a car/truck. Or, you can get a 'tech' licence from the FCC to operate on 50 mhz. The test is stupid easy. I think that more than anything else the FCC just wants the name and address of people operating on that frequency. There are several companies that can sell you the necessary equipment to operate on that frequency. But I bet there aren't many tracks that will let you run at their events. There is also the spektrum module for the Blade CX. I bet that can be modified for use in a car/truck.

You can do it if you want, and its not all that hard.

They do make stick radios up to like 9 channels or something ridiculous like that. They also make 2 channel stick. Just because you see a stick radio it doesn't mean it is necessarily a heli/plane.

Actually there are radios with 14 channels and devices that will effectively double that amount - no, I don't know how they do it.
Really, it's not all that ridiculous when you consider all the stuff that has to be controled on a big heli or a multi-engine plane. Say you have a 4 engine plane; then you have 4 throttles, rudder, elevator, ailerons, retractable landing gear, nose gear stering and that's just the basic stuff. If you start adding smoke, cameras, releases, etc you get to 14 or more pretty quickly. I even saw one plane that required two guys to fly it. One guy would do the actual flying and the other delt with the accessories and ground manuvering.

As far as using your Heli radio for a car, yes, it's likely possable but it's also likely not practicle. A seperate radio is not going to cost that much more than the extra electronics you'll need to buy to use your heli radio in a car.
IMHO, a seperate radio will actually have advantages over your current radio. First it lets you choose between a stick style and a pistol style radio. I use both and for non-air vehicles I find it easier to use the pistol syle. Second, your multi-channel radio is likely a more expensive, complicated radio and if it doesen't have multi-model memory that could make set up an issue. Not too mention the increased possability of damaging the more expensive radio. And finally, if the radio does break, or fail for some reason, both of your vehicles are out of service.

I know about plane radios with flaps, retracts and etc. I was talking about multiple channel surface radios. It's pretty crazy to have that many channels, but I guess you need them with some of the scale projects guys get into. Yeah I've seen a couple of those "two man planes". They are pretty amazing. Like that huge B-52 that crashed. I saw a video of it somewhere.
