.........the first since my last parts breaking crash, and also since I replaced the radio, rear tires, and installed the MIP 4N1 clutch. Today was the first day it wasn't snowing, blowing, too cold, or all these things combined.
The Airtronics Blazer radio is leaps and bounds better than that the POS Ace Jaguar. When you trun the wheel, it turns NOW, not when the servo feels like getting around to it as with the Ace. All the controls are wonderful, and the transmitter itself feels very ergonomically correct.
These Proline rear tires get some serious bite compared to the stock tires. This thing actually wheelied a couple times today, something it never did with the stock tires. This thing is going to be a handful when I get the Fantom engine installed.
Thanks to those of you who recommended the MIP 4N1 clutch. This thing is much nicer than the factory clutch. The engine idle speed can be set quite a bit higher now without the truck moving, and even though this clutch seems to engage more smoothly, the second you hit the throttle, the power is at the rear wheels instantly!
One thing I noticed, the rear end seems to sit a bit low, and when I have it running at full throttle, I noticed there isn't much clearance between the chassis and the ground. I think I'll install some more of the ring spacers which are installed at the top of the shock springs. This should make it sit a bit higher.
I'll give a full review after I install the Fantom engine for those who may be interested.

You're makin me jealous, we've had rain all week here. Did give me time to take the truck apart and clean it though. This weekend is supposed to be nice and sunny, so I figure it's time for some nitro!

grampi.....you just about have a new rig there "AGAIN". Once from the factory....and now with all of your updates!
When you get your new engine....maybe you should change your name from grampi.....to Fantom Man?
I'm interested in hearing how you like the Fantom engine when you get it in.

Reddog,
Yes it is SK related, it's excellent that you picked up on that!
Also, I haven't really run on any of the tracks. I went up to Mike's R/C, but they weren't doing nitro (it was too cold that day).
Also, i've only been running my truck about 1 1/2 weeks, so I'm trying to get a better feel for it and get it solidified (so it stops losing parts) before I take it to the track and get laughed at.

I spent the first couple weeks thinking about a new engine, but after I got it broke in and tuned right, I was pretty happy with the power of the TT .15 I'm sure I'll get bored and do a transplant anyways, so I'd like to know how the Fantom works out for you.
and whats up with the rear end of the GT riding so low? I moved the shock position on the shock tower instead of adding more pre load spacers.

I never noticed the saggy butt before. I had to replace the rear shock tower as that was one of parts I broke in my last crash. Maybe the shock mounting holes are in a slightly different location. I'll try relocating the top shock mount to see if this helps. I'll also keep you posted on the Fantom. It's due to arrive Wed.

Who sells this spring kit and red springs? Tower Hobbies? What's it called?

My current set up looks like this:
Gold springs with 40wt oil, shock mounting position is in the C position on the top and B position on the bottom (in the rear).
With this set up I'm still bottoming out fairly easy on jumps over 2 feet in the air. The problem with this set up is the rear end has started to bounce around a lot more in rougher terrain. It does however help it wheelie when I find good traction.
I can get the rear end up in the air a little more by dropping to the lowest mounting position in the rear but then the axels start to rub on the swingarm.
The RC10GT is definately design with a specific purpose in mind. It is however a blast to bash it around a little.

I take it the green springs in the set are the same as the factory springs? I have green ones on mine now. It looks like the rest of the sets are longer. These should do the trick. Thanks.

Tower also sells these springs in separate pairs for $2.39 a pair. I suppose I could order the 3 sets (not the green ones), and save a few bucks. I certainly don't need another green set. That should set me up with the springs I need.
