Hi All,
I have a Tamiya Frog that is not steering/accelerating properly. Symptoms are...
When you try to steer the servo jitters ie. it moves intermittantly in the right direction but not completley, otherwise doesnt at all. Accelleration is intermittant...
I have tried the following...
Tried re calibrating the ESC, tested with known good ESC. Tested with another servo... same thing.
Only thing I havent replaced/tried is the battery... Any clues what might be causing this? Only two things left are the battery and the radio. It seems it may be the battery? Its like the battery doesnt have enough charge to run the servo and the ESC?
Other information: I have a 7.2v ni-cad battery that initially worked before I charged it for the first time? Is it possible that the store that I got the charger from supplied me with the wrong charger and it has blown the battery/or I have blown the battery? Here are the specs of the charger...
ANSMANN ACS67P+ Charger
Pri.:240v~50Hz 63W
12v~ 16v rail 42VA
Sec.: 9,8 V rail 3A
for 7,2-8,4V Racingpacks (6-7 cells)
capacity range: 1,2 - 3AH
time control: max. 90min
Can I charge NiMh batteries ranging from 3000 - 3600Mha batteries with this charger?
Any help greatly appreciated. TIA.

Hi, and welcome to RCU. You've done a lot of "process of elimination" already to find the problem and it sounds like a radio problem to me. If you are using a rx pack on the vehicle then you can try new AA batts. If it uses the main subC 7.2 pack only then just make sure it is charged. The tx (transmitter) should have new AA batts in it (and possibly some lights to show charge?)
If tx and rx batts are new/good/charged then look for loose crystals/connections. Hopefully it WAS a working vehicle?
Your charger should be able to do your nicad and nimh battery both. It may be possible that the charger is bad and you just have a dead battery. The battery should be quite warm when charged and take about 30 minutes for a 1500 mah battery to charge.

Gday guver,
Thanks for your promt reply and advice... The car was working fine initially until the first charge.. I replaced the batteries in the radio unit today and still have the same problem. The light on the radio does have a battery indicator that reads green which I assume is good. The only thing left is the 7.2v battery. Ill be taking the battery in to work tomorrow to test it with a multimeter-see how much charge is coming out of it. Wanna get a NiMh battery anyway... Ill post the results. Cheers...
