Default UPDATE!

I have an update on one of those tips!

If you look at that article, I went through with number three which is taking out the Head Shim. I did this, and soon after I finished, I ran my HPI RS4 3. OMG! This was sweet. The car was hyper compared to before. It added a Sh*t load of power and acceleration, not to mention the at-least 8-10mph of top speed added. It was the added compression that did it. I almost pissed in my pants when I tried it out. I could not be any happier with the added performance. I will soon do number ten, which suggests to open up your headers.

It was pretty simple overall. If you do choose to do what I did, be sure to be VERY careful though. Because, like they said, it might not work with all engines, and if it is run that way on an engine that cannot allow it, it may cause damage. Also, be VERY careful not to strip any screws holding your head on!

Just letting you know,
Kevin

You might want to richen your high speed mixture about 1/8 of a turn too. The added compression is probably making your engine run a bit hotter and the richer mixture will help keep it cool. Remember, heat kills!

Kevets are you sure 10mph? What engine do you have? Because in order for it to increase 10MPH your RPM's would have to increase by 25% or so. I guess its possible though

I just have the sh*tty .15fe. And because it is not the best engine, that is probably why it increased so much (it could use all of the help it can get!). it probably only increased about 7mph though. But the power increase was incredible also. I do not know if you should do it because you have the SS engine. It does help compression alot, by making a smaller piston chamber. If you choose to do it, you will see an obvious power and speed increase not to mention acceleration.

I also performed #10, which is grinding your headers. It went fine, using a dremel, and I haven't yet got a good chance to try it out.

Slimenim-
Yea, but .16's are not allowed in sanctioned races! ROAR and other main organizations do not permit anything over a .12 on the tracks to race. I bet it is a nice engine though.

We are talking about taking the shims out. That is what adds the performance, because it adds more compression. I think is a real nice trick! ha ha

Gms states to add shims to restore compression. Mecoa.com, I can see that on a new engine maybe you should remove them, I was talking about adding them to a wore out engine.

Thanks for correcting me though, Preciciate it!
