Default Is it time to rebuild

Well i just took apart my first rc engine. It was a tower st-15 which i know i think i ran to lean at times and that dirt did get into the engine. Also that after run oil was not always used (i did not know it existed). It has about a gallon of gas through it now. Before i took it apart the truck would start right up when it was cold. Then after it got warmed up it would not start again till it cooled. I leaned the settings back to factory and it still did it. I included some pics so you all could tell me what you think i need to buy to fix it.

Thanks

Nick

Looking at the rust on the crank it's probably not worth rebuilding it - the bearings may also be slightly rusty. If i were you i'd just run it until it dies and then buy another engine.

Rebuilding is not usually very cost effective on these small engines.
You should really compare parts prices for the piston/sleeve and bearings aganst something like TRX 2.5, 3.3, or one of the OS .18's. The OS CV-RX is only around $110 I think and ir's a much more powerful engine and very easy to tune too.

If this is your first engine problem, I would say that you are doing great. But seriously, that engine may not be worth rebuilding like others have said.

Try a resizing / pinching / porting service. Give that engine a 2nd life for around 20$. They claim to restore the compression and even increase power because of porting.

So what they do is like resurface it like a brake rotor or something? Becuase i do not want to spend a lot of money on this truck. But would like to keep it running. To lets friends and my mom (lol) to drive.

No. They pinch the sleeve. Normally the sleeve bore is tapered. Its gets tighter on the top. The piston should not be able to go through all the way to the top. Looking at your pictures from the 2nd set, 2nd photo looks like the piston went all the way through. This means you have lost that tapering in the sleeve, also from the same photo, looks like your engine has experienced a blow by, when the fuel ignite, the flames passes through the gap between the sleeve and the piston and burns the edges of that port.

The service is only 15$ plus 5$ shipping, and nothing else to buy.

Thanks for finding that for me. I think I will try it. I will let you all know how it works.
