Default simple engine questions

hello to you,

ive recently picked up a v one s and it rocks! but just wondering about some general engine question...

how quick should a car be out of the blocks? im worried that my needles arent set up right. plus should there be lots of white smoke coming from the exhaust? i have no temp meter either so is there a way i can roughly monitor the engines temperature?

thanks in advance

chris

You really should invest in a temp gun or plan on spending a lot more money on engine repairs. 70$ for the temp gun is not much compared to a piston and sleeve which is usually at least 75$ not to mention the other parts in the engine that are damaged by overheating, it is well worth the investment in the long run if you intend to stay in the hobby.
