Default Brake Pad question

My brake pad on my jato got over 270 degress. I was doing some high speed runs. Anyways the brakes pretty much failed maybe only had about 20% braking power. They say there made of composite materials. So my question is do i need to get a new brake disk or next time i run it will it stop like before it got over heated?

Well i ran my truck just now and to answer the question the pad is dead. It will barely stop the wheels spinning when they are off the ground...

Try tightening it up alittle before you replace it if you can do that on that car. It may have just worn down.

If you burnt the surface maybe you can turn them the other way and use them again.

Or take them off and break up the glaze the heat created by lightly sanding them with course sandpaper.

Only two possible reasons why they don't work now (as stated above by pillbots and dave),either you've worn the surface down so much that the pads/linkage need adjustment to take up the slack or the pads are glazed. As above if the pads are glazed(temperature has melted the pad leaving a hard and shiny surface)firstly try rubbing the pads on a piece of 180 grit paper(flat surface)if this removes the shine but the pad is still hard then you'll need new.

there are brake pads on both sides.
have you done the brake mod, where you use fuel line instead of the spring? do that. and 270 aint nothin. mine were over 400 at one point, and they are still fine. if you havent done the brake mod i suggest you do it, and when you go for new disc get a steel one off of ebay

I have the brake mod and i sanded them like suggested and they worked great for a while again. Then they started to fade a little not to much. But i was doing a high speed run and hit a bump and the truck did some cartwheels. And somewhere in that process the disk broke in half! So now i have a new one.
