That engine is not really worth repairing in my opinion, unless you are then going to use it to practise your porting skills. You could get a much better engine brand new for less than $150.

Ok,good news and bad news!
Good new: he can source one from his supplier and they have it in stock!
Bad news:It's £46 plus postage,so just under £50...at that price i'd personally look for a new motor as Foxy said it's not a brilliant engine and you could get a better replacement for £70-£80.
However should you decide to get the new piston and liner, let me know and i'll give you the info.

Plenty of motors in the £70-£80 bracket that are better than the Macstar.Have a look at the link Pillbots gave up there plus have a look for Sts.28 or .30

Yes mate, that picco from apex is a great buy at that price. don't bother with STS if a picco is in the budget. They're good cheap engines, the STSes, but seem to need a fair bit of fiddling, sealing and all that, before they're reliable. No worries with the picco.
Anthoop, I always work in dollars. I'm english, I live in greece and I circulate on an american forum. It's the logical choice.
Plus, although of course threads are there to help the original; posters, but others also read them and may be helped by the advice. I think all English people know how much a dollar is worth, though I'm not so sure all American people know how much a pound is worth without looking it up. Anyway, I digress...
