I'm just realy excited cause I'm getting a hpi type ss. tell me how good this radio is, it's the one i'm lookin at for the type ss: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1p?&I=LXASX7**

And also, is Odonnell 20% racing fuel ok for this engine? i'm getting a high torque servo for steering too.

Also, both 190mm and 200mm bodies will fit on this car right?

Only 200mm bodies will fit correctly on the car, you could put a 190 but it would look funny and it could scrape againts the wheels if the you don't cut down the wheel wells.

That's the car I am currently running. I LOVE IT! I am also running the same radio, except that I changed out the steering servo for one with higher torque.(77 lbs). The car is a great handling machine. I run against my friends TC3 and can out-handle him anyday! The only issue I have is that the 2-speed transmission doesn't seem to be shifting and I cannot keep up with the TC3 and it's 2-speed. Still trying to tweek the 2-speed and am considering a more powerful motor. Otherwise, GREAT CAR!

By the way, I would look into different fuels. I am running O'Donnell's 20% and it is the MESSIEST fuel I have ever run. After a couple hours of running, there is leterally oil dripping off the side of my car. It is supposed to be real good with the synthetic lubricants, but I believe it runs the engine too cool and doesn't really allow it to 'open up'. Let me know what you decide.

HPIOnly, are you sure its not shifting? Sometimes its hard to notice. Do you know if its stuck in second or first gear? Are you using the back spring that came with the kit and not the silver one? If its stuck in first gear unscrew the screw in the tranny (its the one at an angle) about 1/2 turn until it shifts.

KyleSch, yes I am pretty sure it is not shifting. They say that you can distincly hear when it shifts, and I cannot. I tried turning back that screw, but don't want to over do it. I will post later to see how it all turns out. I have to fix a few parts first (had a messy crash on my debut on an actual track )...

why are you guys changing to a high torque servo? i am considering one of these cars for my first car. I currently have 10 or so year old of road electric car from when i was about 14, but it has a 2 channel futaba that i bought with it. i was thinking i could use this with the type ss i was going to buy, but im not really sure what the servo is or why i would need a high torque one. i am assuming that is has something to do with steering but dont know.

yeah hes right. all you need is like 60-75 ounces to turn this thing EASILY!

See if you can get that thing to shift while your holding it. Thats the easiest way to tell. No only will you hear it, the car will sorta jump when it shifts.

Fuel mess is good I think what it means is that you probably have a leak in your header area. If not, the fuel coming out of the exhaust is backwashing onto the car because of the airflow. see if you can tube it out some more with something

pjku79, a servo is the the little black box-shaped component that controls the steering. It will have a gear (about 1/8" in. across) that has some sort of attachment. It connects to the the tie-rods. You should use a high torque one on the steering to help in handling. The torque will help point the car in the direction you intend and keep it going there, without road-bumps jarring it off course. You should have a high speed servo on the throttle. That way, when you hit the gas, there is less lag time between when the servo starts to move and when it gets to where you want it. This will help in throttle response. Helpful?

You should be fine with the stock servos (S3003) as long as you have 6 volts of battery power it gives 56 oz/in of torque which is fine for on-road. If you want to upgrade one get something like:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXN588&P=0

77oz/in of torque you definitly don't need more than that for on-road.

pjku79, nowadays servos use what is called a "z connector" and radios that are 3 years or older will probably not work with the new servos, i recomend JR Digital servos or Futaba Digital, they both are good but they come at a hight price, new remotes that are highend liek the JR R-1 and Airtronics M8 do not come with servos standard, when your buying one, it should say if it comes with servo, the servo item # is usually listed, u'll have to check their catalog to see what kind of servo that servo item # is, bacisly, if u got a remote for profesonials, it prob won;t come with servos casue the pro like to chose theris, the M8 does have a few combs that inclube the M8 with like a 1 high torque 1 high speed but the combos cost like 900 dollars
