Default TMAXX problems

Looks like another trip to LHS! I have now taken the truck out 4 times and tomorrow will be my 4th trip for replacemant parts. Already replaced shock towers, steering servo, and diff. output yoke. Today it was trucking along and I heard some grinding and clicking noise coming from the tranny. All of a sudden the truck stopped moving and the engine just set there and spun. I haven't taken it apart yet so I don't know what the problem is. Anyone had this happen to them? I guess I am too hard on this truck, but it sure looks neat 6 feet off the ground!

Sounds like you broke the 5 x 9.8 steel pin that locks the gear to the shaft....I broke mine this weekend, it looks like a set-screw with a shank on it. I was able to put 2 set-screws in, one from each side of the gear, and trap a pin in the center. Seems to be working fine. I suspect these pins will break if you jump and hit the ground at full throttle, puts alot of shock on the pin all of a sudden. Next trip to the LHS I'm going to pick up a handfull of them.....Coop

Ive heard the rear end gears do it too, but not moving you would have to strip both ends. Also, it will be obvious once you open it up, Are you full throttle when you land it? I have jumped mine more than 6' alot of times and have had zero problems with it.

Well....Since my last post here this morning, I ran the T-Maxx in the snow, and I lost the rear drive. I took it apart, found the screws that hold the spool to the ring gear have snapped off....I guess it will be a good time to put the locker assembly in it.....Coop

Shadow, looks like you win the lucky prize. That's exactly what it was, the main spur gear was missing about 8 or 9 teeth. I opted against getting the metal gear and bought two plastic ones instead. I will be ready next time. Thanks guys for your advice.

hey no prob yeah that happens because when it gets stuck and won't move all the power from the engine goes there first and since something needs to give it is better for a cheep thing to go like the spur gear and that was definatly a good choice buying the plastic ones because if they don't go then something in your engine goes instead

by the way what do i win i am looking for a rc10gt j/k g'luck

minor injuries add up ^_^ 35$ is quite expensive dont you think? that adds up, especially if itsj us about every run like you say.

minor add up..yes , ill give you that, but such minor injuries arent that big a deal if u have spares like me.....when i say minor i mean things like broken shock ends, somn bent, i screw up a body.that isnt literaly 35 every run..its a mix or exaduration and reality............
