Hi there, I did a search but I couldn't find what I needed.
I am getting a new MGT 8.0, and I want to seal my engine when I get it, I can get everything from the place I'm buying the truck, except the silicone sealer.
Permatex ultra copper/copper max is recommended, however, it's going to cost £10 for a big tube.
So I wondered if I could get a smaller tube somewhere or use something else, in the UK?
As I don't want to spend £10 on a huge tube of silicone sealer that I'm only going to use a few CCs of.
Any advice?
Cheers

Go to your local auto repair shop and ask one of
the mechanics if they have a tube that is almost
spent. I am a mechanic and I always have tubes
of rtv on the workbench with just a bit left in them.

I assume there are auto parts stores in the UK. Any "sensor safe" sealant should work, high temp stuff is preferred. Here in the states it comes in small tubes, like a travel sized toothpaste, for less than $5.00.

I can get pro seal RTV for £5, I think that's my best bet.
Permatex is going to cost me £13 with postage.
It looks like the red hi-temp RTV is the best to go for, it withstands 370c compared to 315c of the normal stuff, and is approved for repeated hot and cold cycling.

I just bought it, so I hope it's ok
