Is the chassis made of metal or plastic? The reason I ask is because it looks like the antenna wire is touching the frame. That could definitely be the problem if the frame/chassis is made of metal.
How far away are you going before it starts breaking up?

It's a xxx-t chassis so it's plastic. Look for frays in the wires. You should be able to get a couple hundred feet range, no problem. If it only happens when you are at a certain distance then you have a radio issue.

Are you running a brushed motor cause that looks like an LRP esc. If it's a brushed motor , take the motor out and clean the com, and brushes they probably
are just fouled up . You can get a com cleaner and clean the com and brushes with it if the com an brushes are in good shape.

yes it is tape around the esc battery wires someone before me had cut them for some reason ? maybe for a new connector?
the radio batteries read more that half on the display ?
the frame is plastic . it is getting about to the far side of my neighbors house .
Yes it is a brushed motor i will also have to look at that .
thanks guys

First thing I would try is changing the radio batteries. Try using regular alkaline batteries. (if you aren't already)
Since everything else looks fine I'd then try soldering some new capacitors to the motor. I've had a few times where I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my radio was glitching and it was due to the lack of caps on the motor. The motor creates radio noise and the caps suppress it. I'm not sure what caps you'll need, usually the ESC manufacturer will recommend which ones to use. If not I'm sure somebody here can come up with what they've used.

I have this exact same problem with my first gen Traxxas Rustler electric. I've tried different motors, escs, it's always the same: my range is about half of what anyone elses is. I've tried putting the radio as far away from the wires as possible, and braiding or twisting the wires. No difference.
