With everybody it seems switching over to 2.4 would it be a good idea not to blow my smaller hobby budget on one. I was planning on getting a spektrum 2.0, but I may not now for when I go to race I am pretty sure I wont have a frequency problem due to the fact that 2.4 has become so affordable. What do you guys think does that make sense?

I would suggest going 2.4 if you plan on racing. You don't want the guy in the pits turning on his radio and ruining your car and/or race, AND you don't want to be that guy. Going forward, I would get Spektrum or Futbaba's faast.
My local tracks still have almost half the field messin with radio numbers.
