hey crank, you have nitro or electric? I run my cars in Prospect all the time. Just got a buggy that I run on the ball fields and a touring car for the flats.

I live in Westchester County and also prefer on-road racing. It is difficult to find good asphault. I am somewhat new to New York and I do not really know anyone else into the Hobby. I have a Serpent 960, an RS4 a Jato and a MGT. If anyone is interested in finding some black top with me send me a note.

ThunderbirdJunkie will likely be spending the summer in Westchester and this is of concern to him. Are there any tracks within about a 60-100 mile drive?
All work and no race makes ThunderbirdJunkie a dull boy.

RE: no tracks in nyc
I am right down the road from Orchard Beach. There are guys out there sometimes on the weekends too. I have run my cars there a couple times. The biggest problem with that parking lot its where the city dumps the snow in the winer which leaves it scattered with debri all year like small rocks, bottle caps etc. My on-road cars do not fair so well there- I have thought about getting a gas powered leaf blower to clean a section of the lot each time then make a track with cones. There is also a dirt track on Gunhill Rd and Bronx BOulevard which is good and its free - you can see pictures of that track and get info Brucknerhobbies.com . I also found a nice dirt track for 1/10 scale in Nanuet and as you go North out of the City parking lots are easier to find too.
I had a group of guys I raced with in Florida a few years ago. What we did was go to grocery store or strip mall parking lots right at closing time (which was ususally about 9 or 10PM) The big overhead ligts stay on a couple hours after they close leaving the parking lot to us. Then we would change lots every couple weeks so we didnt bring any attention to ourselves, it worked out very well and we always picked out the nicest black top in town to race n.

RE: no tracks in nyc
I am thinking since I made my last post: I see a few guys here and there playing with nitro cars at Orchard Beach.
I am thinking about going to Home Depot and buying a gas powered leaf blower, cleaning a section of the lot in a corner and setting up some cones and start trying to get these guys together as well posting some race days / times on RC Universe.
What do you guys think?.......would anyone show up?
