Gday
I have a HSP tornado, which is just like the rancho.
I have upgraded the motor to a OFNA .32 bigblock.
At the moment I buy all my parts from www.exportpro.biz and buy rancho parts this is the link straight to the model [link=http://www.exportpro.biz/accessories/spare_part/part_list.php?select=truck_g004]spare parts for rancho[/link]
Now here is my problem I inspected the diff gears today and the Driven gear has a fair bit of wear on it.
The pinion still looks ok but I haven't pulled it right down and inspected it..
Now is there a stronger gear that i cna buy to replace it from the standard or do I have to stick with the standard one?
Any other pointers to help strenghten the truck up would be great....

as far as i know you can only use the stock one on it but they are pretty strong, they are steel diff gears. Its a good truck out of the box, not much if an to be upgraded. Nice pictures by the way.

Kika......
OK...Im gonna go out on a Limb here
....Try to follow along......
You have the Tornado, which is the same as the Rancho......
The Monsoon (Redcat Truggy) is Very similar, to the Rancho. In Fact, it is Based on the Rancho Drivetrain.
The Difference being wider suspension arms.....
ALL of these RC's are manufactured by HSP and rebadged by whatever company sells them....That is why so many Parts are interchangeable....
Are you with Me, so Far?.....Lol..
I believe that the Front and Rear Diff assemblies are the SAME on ALL these Trucks.....
If that is the case, you can use CEN Matrix ring and pinion gears part #MX040 and MX037 to replace the entire Rear Diff Capsule......
There is SOME minor modification involved.
Here is a link to a thread where it was done on a Monsoon....
Check it out...See if it is something you might be interested in....

Guy......
That Diff Case and those Gears all work together and Bolt to the Truck with No Modification needed?
If that is the Case, then You Are The Man, Bro!.....
I've HEARD that HSP and early KYOSHO share some Parts. If You Know of More parts that are Shared, Please Post your Knowledge.....
Good Job.......[sm=punching.gif]

Thanks for all the advice.
I have ordered the diff gears but am going to wait and see how the pinion gears hold out after the dif upgrade as they all look good so far.
Will post some pics when all done..[sm=49_49.gif]
Also I have been told that driving these cars on grass and road will make the gears strip a lot easier and you should only drive then on lose dirt?
Is this true or is that 1 bloke own opion?[&:]
Thanks again

grass could make the engine and gears work harder but who is not going to drive their rc on the road or grass? I wouldnt worry about it, stripping gears is really a part of the hobby.

Kika.....
I drive My off road RC on All Different Surfaces, including Asphalt.
One Important thing to remember is that these Off Road engines are not designed to Scream WOT Up n Down your street with out a rest.
If ya wanna Drive in That Fashion, you should always use a Car that was Designed for that sort of thing, like a 2 speed Road Car..
But....a FEW Pavement runs shouldnt hurt anything....Lol.
