Tuned pipe, gearing, engine. Try the traxxas tuned pipe. That adds some pretty good power. Do you want faster top speed or faster low end?

is it electric or nitro? what motor? what fuel/battery? we need more info on what you have to help you.
if it doesnt already have ballbearings, that will help if you put them on.
you may be able to use different gearing than whats on the vehicle.
there may be ways to lower the weight.
a downhill slope always works well

1st, how can you have a xl-5 rusty with a 12t motor? did you use a different esc? cause the xl5 esc can only handle down to 15turns.

2nd, the sidwinder with 3s would be very fast. but really, all the RTR brushless motors will blow your mind on 3s. even the hottest brushed motors dont compare.
you can multiply the #KV by the # of volts.....5700kv X 11.1=63270. so, with no load on the motor it will spin at 63270 RPMs.

the xl5 comes stock with a 12t motor, but 550 size in a 540 size it only goes down to 15t (so the guy is pushing his ESC way too hard)

also, the sidewinder with 3S is not an approved combo, too many amps for the esc to handle on the 5700
