Default something FRIED !

i think my lil bro broke his 9200kv motor ..

smoke comes out of the endbell of the motor which is pretty funny ...motor keeps goign strong ..but smoke just comes out ..

so my dad opened up the motor end bell ...and the heat shrink was melted casue dad told us to dip the motor in gasoline to clean the bearings like a couple of weeks ago ...this worked very welll ..but gas went into the motor casue we were reving the motor is gasoline .. GOOD THING there was no spark ...

motor worked good for a couple weeks ...running 3s lipo

so then it started to smoke and thats why we opened up the motor ..

reheat shrinked al the wirres ..

now smoke comes out even more ....

still works ..

just lotta smoke

anyone know hwat kinda smokeee?

who wants pics or VIDS ? hahah

O yea .. i am no NOOB hahaha

well that smoke obviously is not good for you based on what you wrote i don't under stand what you mean...

and no you should never use anything but a good motor spray to clean the motors so next time your dad want to clean something in gasoline smack him in the face and tell him no cuz he obviously shorted out your motor and it will eventually stop smoking or most likely will stop working all together

so let me try to understand what your are saying

1. cleaned moter in gasoline

2. smoke started to come out

3. melted shrink rap and melted wires?

so that smoke is the insulation on the wires melting I'm guessing

Don't listen to your dad.
Dipping anything in gasoline is not something you should do.
Ever.
Maybe you can patent the process and then sell a kit to guys who like nitro for the smoke but have to run an electric.

Wow , have to say in all the years I`ve been into RC I never heard of cleaning a motor with gasoline , or even running it in the gas . That`s a smart combination mixing gas and electricity . [sm=thumbs_down.gif] Mind as well plan on getting a new motor and get some motor spray while your at it and don`t let your dad touch the new one .

Theres a good chance the gasoline is making the insulation on your windings dissolve.

First, let me say that I'm not saying that cleaning a rc motor, especially a brushless one, in gas is a good idea because it's not.

But, running electric motors in gasoline is not uncommon at all. Nearly every modern auto on the market does it. The fuel pump is noting more than an electric motor connected to a pump and submerged in the fuel tank. As a matter of fact, the gas actually cools the motor. Which is why it's a poor idea to run modern cars under 1/4 tank - the fuel pump motor gets warm/hot and it's life is reduced.

Very true , but the motors for fuel pumps are completely sealed and designed to run in gasoline , unlike rc motors .

The only thing I'd ever clean with gas is the carburetor off an old car lol.
