get a screw driver with is a T-shape place it on the screw, get a hammer hit it a little, till the screw driver is in, then try to unscrew it. Dont use that screw again, to the bin

If you have a dremel tool - sounds like you don't or you would have known to use it - you could use a cutting wheel to cut a flat head slit inthe top of the screw and just unscrew it.

Well - You could also grab a drill and a small drill bit and drill out the screw head enough so that the tranny just comes out.
So, basically - the screw had holds the bind between the tranny and the chassis - just eliminate the screw head and then when you get it out the rest of the screw - the part with the threads - will be sticking out. Then grab some needle nose pliers and twist it the rest of the way.
Let me now - I have rescued lots of screws and have ma y ideas.

Well - you wouldn't need to drill past the head. The goal is to eliminate the side of the head or anything larger than the threaded section of the screw.
there are really only two approaches because the transmission - tranny - box is plastic. you can A) either use some sort of cutting device to make a slit for a screw driver or try and cut out the screw from the top down.
What sort of tools do you have and how big of a screw head are we talking about? Smaller than a pencil eraser head?

if you have some really small drill bits you can make a series of holes in the screw head so that they form a line along the top and then use a screw driver to twist it out.

If you can get to a hardware store I guarantee that they can help you. Just bring in the car - tell them your problem and I bet they can do it in 5 minutes. Other wise I would say wait for your dad.
In the mean time - you may be stuck without any real sharp tools that can eat at metal.
Sory I couldn't be of more help.
