FREE ENGINES!! what now?
So I have been out of RC for a while now. I have only had one nitro buggy before and the last RC stuff I did was electric. So I need yalls help now. I got three free engines yesterday. What should I do with these? they are alot bigger then the force .25 that I used to have. One is a Super Tigre .61 , then a Webra 10CCM (.61) and finally a OS Max FP .25 . Im not even sure if they all run. I was told they ran last time they were used about a year ago. I will prolly take them to the LHS and see if the guys there will help me to get them running. They are all from airplanes so what can I do with em? The things I had in mind were to build a pretty big boat in the 30-45 inch range. Maybe an airplane but Ive never flown one so Im not sure about that one. And possibly make a big block truggy or something. Ive really been leaning towards building a boat. But i am open to all possibilities.
sorry bout the crappy pics, all I have is a camera phone right now.
Webra 10ccm (.61 ) [edit: this one does have a carb, its just taken off in the pics]
OS Max FP .25
Super Tigre .61

LOL, yeah, if you get enough free engines, you can sell them on fleabay at a profit! Free = someone elses' loss and your ability to profit from it.

If your looking to build something around the motor, I'd do a big balsa boat with the .61...But if you're looking to make an AWESOME boat, I'd do a carbon fiber hull boat, with a made for boats motor...

yeah thats what i want to do with one of the .61s is a big balsa boat. But I wouldnt know how long or wide to make it. Does anybody know of any plans that would be good for one of the .61s? also thought about a rigger for the .25 or a .61 also? any balsa plans for those too?

If you want to do a swamp boat with the .60, [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXE388&P=7]THIS RIGHT HERE[/link] is probably your best bet. Those engines are really not going to be much good in anything other than a plane or airboat FWIW.

They are airplane engines and aren't good for anything else.. The .61 could be used in an airboat because they use an airplane blade for power... The others are too small for that purpose.. The biggest issue here is the airplane engines only are designed to turn a blade around 10-12K rpm.. Nitro car engines are designed to run in the 20-30K rpm range.. Save yourself the trouble.. if you want to build an airboat or airplane go for it... for a car, get the correct engine... If you were thinking of making a regular boat and running a small prop.. forget about that...Nitro boat engines turn more RPM's than nitro car engines...
