Baja 5b ss-starting

Default Baja 5b ss-starting

My baja normally starts with a few chokes and a pull, over the last few months it won't start.
We normally drove it in the summer time and the humidity was really high, now that the weather has gone cooler and the humidity has gone down it just won't start.
does anyone know what might have caused this?
all answers welcome. (we drive it in the desert,dubai)

Might want to try the Giant Scale RC Car sections They talk more about the 5B then the Hpi Off-road section..

But on the my only guess would be some slight tuning issue....

That's okay. For gassers, they can get a little finicky to start in the cold, so just be patient. Do the usual procedures of truning the choke and spulling the starter until you hear the ingnition. Then, turn the choke lever back off, and then start pulling the starter again. It will sputter some, so apply some trigger to get that sputtering into a running engine. You might have to apply the throttle and hold the throttle a little while it is warming up, so make sure you have some running space clear so you can run slowly around in circles to warm up the engine enough to where it will stay running on its own once it is at full idle.

If the engine is particularly cold, and you are pulling, pulling, pulling, and it might ignite but always dies, try preheating the engine with a hair dryer or a hobby-grade heat gun (basically, an overglorified hair dryer). That will also reduce the warm-up time once the engine starts running.

If you are pulling, and pulling, and pulling and it does not even ignite, the next thing to look at is the plug. Take it off and make sure it is not fouled. If it is fouled, you can try to revive it by cleaning it with a wire brush, but typically, plugs are gone once fouled (though some do come back to life if cleaned). Relace the plug if fouled.

If the plug is not your problem (it is not fouled), the next thing to look at is the carb. Make sure your needles diddnt get out of whack somehow and retune them if they are not in propper setting. If the needles are in the propper setting, look arond the carb, see if manifold block is not cracked, make sure the gaskets look okay. If there is an obvious leak, Dismount the carb from the engine, replace the manifold block if cracked, replace all the gaskets with brand new ones, and reinstall the carb and tighten down to make sure the gaskets seat and eliminate air leaks.
While you have you carb off, clean in thoroughly, and take out then needles for inspection. Are the o-rings damaged? Replace them, also, put Associated Green Slime on the o-rings to lube them so they do not get ruined going back into the carb, and they also help in sealing against air leaks. Look at the needles themselves. Are they bend or are the tips chipped or ruined? Replace the needles.
