Default choosing a battery charger?

hey everyone, i need recommendations on the purchase of a new charger. i want to be able to charge nimh and lipo. i would also like to charge two packs at the same time. kinda like the duratrax intellipeak twin charger. i have been looking at alot of chargers but none of the lipo ones i have seen will charge two packs at the same time. i really dont want to buy two chargers. if i cant find one that will charge two at once what is a good single charger?

any thoughts on this one?

Try the MRC 977 or the Hobbico Elite or MKII.

Get the superbrain 977 or 989. I have the 977 and it charges two lipos at once which saves on time. I highly reccomend these and you won't be dissapointed. Here is a link. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...ain&FVPCODE=RF

Yes, that is correct, the charger has one permanent and one banana plugged lead. (I like it that way) The venom is also a good charger , but depending upon your job may take twice as long to do twin packs. I use them both. The 977 is one of the best deals for a large twin pack nimh charger and can do over 100 watts if needed.

Another vote for MRC... I only have a 960 as I just run NiCd and NiMH, but the 977 is a great charger.

Default RE: choosing a battery charger?

hey guys thanks for all the help. i bought the 977 last night and i am happy to report that i love it. i charged both of my 3800 nimh packs for the first time last night on something other than a hobbico 905 timer charger. i cant express the difference between a b.s. 15 minute charger and the 977. i set it for 3 amp charge and a 10mah peak detection. it peaked both packs in a fuzz less than ten minutes! and let me tell you the difference in battery life was astounding! i got almost 35 minutes of run time with my 4.5 hv e-maxx! i couldn't believe it. with a 22 tooth pinion and the stock spur in second gear it wheelied for at least the first 10 minutes i was running it and on slightly damp pavement i couldn't keep it going in a straight line at full throttle until the batteries started dying a little.

for years i have run the cheap crappy timer chargers, i always read that battery choice and a good charger really make the difference. until now i always dismissed these statements. all i can say is that i was foolish to wait this long to pick up a good charger and good batteries.

sorry for the rant im just really excited. lol

oh and i was also wondering if anyone could help me out with a charge rate question? what should i set the rate and mah peak detection at for the battery that comes stock with an rc18mt? its 1100 mah and it has those little tiny half aa size cells they use in the 5 cell rx packs. im assuming 1 amp but i could be wrong

Glad you like it... It works awsome charging my stamped packs.... as for charging the little packs, for packs smaller than sub C I dont go over 1C ( 1X the pack capacity) for the best pack life.
