Default Engine...

Its good to be back!

i haven't been on the forums in a while...

I have a problem, the Team infinity engine i have will NOT, stay cool at all!

i can have it slobbering ritch, i can have a fan on it, i can have the body off when i am runing it and it still will over heat... and even when i am not runing it hard...

so i dont know what i am doing wrong... any suggestions? I am thinking about converting the head to a water cooling system, with a small rad, pump (fast, but electric) and useing all fuel tubing or fish air tubing... what do you think

and i want to get my MTR runing again...

its either a tuning issue or an air leak. Do you have the needles set at a good start setting like 3 1/2 out on the high and 4 out on the low? How hot is hot, what kind of temps are you talking about? a good way to find an air leak, is to put some nitro fuel in a spray bottle and spraying the engine and see if the idle changes, if it does then spray in that specific area and see if its still changing idle. also make aure the exhuast manifold is tight and that the exhaust manifold gasket is in tact.

also chack for a clogged fuel line, fuel tank or carb.

umm if it reached 500 or even 450... Let me throw out a wild guess and say i think your engine is SHOT!!!!!!!
you could have a air leak like eddie said.

If your spewing out raw fuel I don't see how you can be over heating or even keeping the thing running. I'd be checking your temp gun. A nitro at that temp and spewing fuel just doesn't sound right. If your temp gun is foobar and your trying to run it rich too cool it, of course it's gonna run like crap. If it's not the temp gun then I have to agree with eddie air leak....

Without a long discussion, I recently tried a temp gun, and I am not that confident in it. I know from work experience that IR guns are uncertain without accurate emissivity settings which are hard to determine and vary depending on the surface you are measuring. Even the cleanliness of the surface can change the reading. I believe the temp gun is a good relative measurement (it's hotter now than it was last time) but not to be counted on for precision. But I must say that is just me. Lots of people use them reliably and like them. What is certain is that the boiling temp of water will not change much. Get some spit on your finger and wipe it on the header. If the spit dances and takes a few seconds to evaporate, temo is good. If it vaporizes instantly, you are too hot.

if he is spitting fuel then there is a leak, its either the head is loose, the exhuast gasket/manifold is loose or the carb is loose. It could also be the backplate but you woudlnt really see fuel all over from that.

ok well i am at school right now, so i will bench run it after school today and see if i can locate it, and ya there is a small amount of compresson, but when there is fuel in the combustion chamber then its fine, it has lots of compressons and fires up fine... but i will look for some leeks...

Thanks
