Default Priming the engine

What is the best way to prime a car engine? With airplanes, you open the carb, put a finger over it and turn a couple times. Can't really do that with the airfilter on. No primer on the tank either.

Thanks

I plug the exhaust for a couple pulls. Works great.

I do the same--cover the exhaust and pull carefully a few times until I see fuel enter the carb.
