Last summer (I think) I built a track in my backyard. It was pretty small, about a 35 foot strait, turn right to a 10 foot straight, turn right again for about 4 feet, turn right again for about 3 feet, turn left for about 25 feet, hairpin at the end and do it again. the all the turns except the hairpin are banked. Its hard to maintain because we have 3 chicken, so fairly large holes "mysteriously" appear in the middle of the track and the banked turn flatted out". About half of the 35 foot straight is short grass, because my parents don't want me to turn the yard into dirt. but the rest is under a big cedar tree that we've had ever since we got the house (about 20 years? I'm only 14...) so it all dirt under there, although it's not the nicest dirt around...I was going to try and find some clay to mix in with the top 3 or 4 inches to make it less dusty and pack down better.
So anyway, I've been using it a lot now, ever since me and my dad for our 2s 4000mah lipos. But I was getting bored after 4 right turn and only 1 left and no jumps. So I expanded the dimension I could build it in by a couple feet wider on the straight, and a couple feet wider on the dirt section on either side. I would make it a lot bigger in the dirt section, but we have a chicken coop in the way...
I thought I wold make this thread to document the remodeling of my track. Tomorror I'll try and get some pics of how it is now, before I start digging it up and moving dirt around. I try and take as many pics as I can during th build process. It might go a little slow because were in the middle out installing bamboo flooring in our house, so my dad is a little busy. It will probably just be me working on it, and I only have about 5 hours from when I get home from school to when it gets dark. I'll post a rough picture I made in paint of the layout. It will have 2 sets of doubles, a triple, an over-one-lane jump (whatever it would be called...crossover?) and a tabletop with a single right after it. it will have 2 big banked turns, a small one, and possibly another medium sized one.
Feel free to ask questions, aswer other's question, or give suggestions!

Wow looks like a nice little track you have there. Let me say even a small track's fun stuff
. Keep me posted on the progress, sometimes the grass is a little pain but if you can "buzz cut it" it, the grass is more managable

I just got home from school and took some pictures of the track now. there not the greatest, it was hard to get good lighting. My camera took them and uploaded them to my computer at 2592x1944 pixels for each picture. I know that's way too big, so whats a good size to resize them at? would half of that size be good?

Here's the pics I took.
sorry the lighting is kinda bad, but half is in the sun, and the other half is under a big tree.
And one question, the dirt gets dried out pretty easy and then gets moved really easy. Would it work to mix some clay in the with top 4 to 5 inches and then wet it and pack it down really hard? and if I do that, would some hard mini-pin tires work good? or would they just spin out in the grass. Ihave masher 2000's right now, but If I get one more pair of 2.2 rims I could use proline slash switch tires, which I have leftover from a previous failed project.

Over the last couple days I dug up most of it and leveled it, then on the first banked turn, I dug about a 1-foot deep ditch and put some 3-foot old stair treads in so they stick up about 2 feet. I still need to pile up some more dirt on it, but it's coming along nicely. I might be able to gets some pics tomorrow.

Yup we've got three chicken. They used to run away from my electric Stampede, but now I have to slow down and drive around them because their so stupid they would just get run over. And they also dig holes everywhere. You can see some in the grass, it makes it pretty challenging, having little potholes (or should I say chicken holes?) all over the track. And you can also see the net I temporarily put over the turns to keep them from digging it up.
