RE: Jobs of RC people
I'm an English-Spanish Translator and Interpreter for our School District in San Jose CA. Lots of demand and pay is O.K. We have a great flying field in Morgan Hill. Budget cuts have hit our State hard, especially education. By the way, when I was 12, I used to work during the summer in my dad's second job in the early 1980's. It was a furninture company and the owner would pay me $ 10.00 to clean the shop on Saturdays. I bought my first kit, a Sig Colt, a .15 Thunder Tiger engine and a 4 channel Aerosport radio from Hobby Shack with that money, plus I had access to a lot of cool carpentry tools.
Best regards to my fellow modellers.

RE: Jobs of RC people
I was working as a shock specialist on a Nascar team in Concord, NC up until being laid-off (with a bunch of other guys) back in January.
I'm currently unemployed and collecting UC benefits for the time being.

Wow. It is scary to hear that a lot of these guys are laid off. I am a office copier, fax printer tech. I have done this almost 20yrs. In Louisiana we are just now feeling the economy pain. Our company already runs lean. I am still very busy. I fly RC airplanes but i find it hard to find the time. I am 39 yrs old and my son plays travel baseball so my weekends are shot. I will sometimes bring my Katana MD electric ,and fly in an open field by some parks in between games. I do fly in a club and i am a AMA member.

When I was 14 I was riding my bike 15 miles one way to work at a swap meet in San Jose CA. I did not spend my money on r/c back then. I helped out my mom with bills. Now I'm a peace officer in CA. Now my garage is full of r/c stuff, planes, tanks, subs, motorcycles, ships, helicopters and of course cars and trucks. Stay the course.

+1 to helping the family, that's why it took me hmm 10?years before actually getting into this or any hobby that requires much investment. Hell my Dad offered 6 years ago to get me a truck if I custom painted his motorcycle. Idid, but got him to help me with books for first year of college instead.

Customer Service Rep for a major cell phone company. I remember when I was 13 my 1st job was for Allied Moving and Storage for the summer. I lied on the app and said I was 16. At 14 I returned for the next summer and ended up buying a 84 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 from the owner of the warehouse. Drove the car home at 14 and it sat in the driveway until I was 15. It was one of the happiest moments at that time. I worked hard saved and got a car before I could legaly drive. What happened to those days man? Anyways looking to get mynext RC by Christmas.

My first job was selling hot dogs at a beach stand in Ocean City, NJ. I was 12 years old and have been working ever since (I"m 71 now). Been selling new homes for the past 5 years, and we're bucking the trend. Started building rubber powered planes when I was ten or so and graduated to control line during high school Junior Ringmaster with an O.K.Cub .15;switched to RC in the mid seventies.
