Default Glow plug igniter doesn't work?

I just bought a brand new glow plug igniter off ebay. The one that uses the double A battery. However, it was not working for some reasons today.

The plug was fine because I could get it to light out with my other igniter. The new igniter did not work. I checked the voltage with my multimeter, it read 1.6X Volt, which is more than enough I believe.

... don't buy cheap crap off ebay???

Seriously, no idea why it would not work if the voltage is getting through. Where did you read the voltage?

it's only $5.99 from HK. I read it from the middle point and the side wall. It is kind of weird that it does not ignite the plug.

Use only good quality batteries like Energizer, or Duracell, it might have good voltage, but not enough juice in it.

Not sure how much mah rating for AA alkaline batteries, but sub-C cells can hold more nowadays - depending on quality brand though

What I have found as glow igniters need to be charged on a high quality charger if you dont want them to fail before you need to start your car. I had a problem with the charger supplied with the Hobbico Hot Shot 2 (awesome igniter!) where the charger had to be a certain place on the ingiter or else the red light would turn off, so the car started fine teh first couple of times but my needle settings were off and it took a while to start (lean LSN) so after a while the igniter didnt glow. Charged it up for 5 minutes at 1.5A and it worked a few more times. When I got home I charged it at .5 amps and the 1500mah battery charged to 1638mAh! On a side note, I am using the Protek charger connector with every connector on it. Racers Edge also has one, the Squid, not sure if it has the glow igniter or Traxxas plugs on it though.
