if you are just going to use this car for fun and not racing at all i would buy it. but if you think that you might take it to the track and upgrade parts this isnt the best truck. if i were you i would get the Associated RC10GT Plus RTR

or the HPI Nitro Rush RTR

I personally have the Rush and thinks that its a great car with a few upgrades. But if you are looking for the best right out of the box the RC10GT is the best choice.

The MAX ST is a great truck but is very beginner and standard. If it's your first truck than it is good to learn on, but soon enough you will want to upgrade. That's what I did.
But it's very durable, fast and actually handles very well.
My buddy always has problems with his PRO version - My standard ST always runs great with no problems.
Have fun!

That would be my suggestion. I would have gotten a better truck from the get-go if I had known how easy it all was. I was intimidated at first that's why I stayed basic.
Look into the Traxxas Nitro Rustler or the XXXNT Losi - or RC10GT A lot of people like the XXXNT and the RC10GT.
They only cost about 50$ or so more and in the long run they are better trucks. But don't feel the need to spend over 375$. There are plenty of great trucks around 300-350.
There is a lot of support on line so don't be afraid to get in over your head - just ask a lot of questions. You can e-mail me at [email protected] if you need any help after you get your truck.
Happy driving -

Check out this link on Tower Hobbies above. It shows all of the options and specs and stuff. I don't own nor have I ever driven the RC10GT but I read great things about it and it's always suggested when someone asks for opinions on a great truck. I think it's single speed. As for gowing through tall grass - how tall? Thick, tall grass is a killer for any nitro truck.
Another option is something with larger tires - like the T-Maxx or the Sport Maxx by Traxxas. Both are very durable and go through tall grass a little easier. Sport Maxx is cheaper and two wheel drive. You can check those out on Tower Hobbies as well.

Maybe you should check out the associated web site or post another post asking people specifically about that truck.

I wouldn't choose the ST, for all of the reasons we talked about but I would consider the HPI Rush. I almost got on ein fact. But I was able to get a steal of a deal on A nitro Rustler, only six tanks run through on E-bay - so I got that.
The nitro's go on grass easily enough - grass is just a bit tougher on the engine - but I still do it all the time. Dry short grass is the best!! Especially for jumping.
I am not a fan of the huge monster trucks either - I like the best of both the on-road and monster truck worlds.
Rush's are great I hear too. Actually - I think that would be my choice out of the bunch. I have seen them run and they are great. Durable too. Plus my hobby shop has lots of parts for HPI cars and trucks.
Just a tip - there is not much need for a two speed in an off road vehicle. The T-maxx has two speeds but I can't recall why that is. Something to do with being internal because off all of the dust and dirt.
