lean out the engine 1/8 of a turn to the right until it gives you smooth accelaration. The engine bogs down and is dying because by setting the main needle to rich you are flooding the engine.

ow i had the os cv-x and i had the same problem, it has to do with the third needle. when i had this problem i just took it to my local hobby shop and they tuned the third needle correctly from its stock position and it ran just fine. i suggest that you do the same thing.

Let them tune it? Were talkin about a hobby car.. not his daily driver!!
Whats the fun in him doing it for ya? LEarn it the hard way! You cant break anything..
My engine was giving me hell.. but I am starting to understand it pretty well and nw I can listen to it and tell if its rich or lean.
Practice is the key! Dont let other do it for you!
Thats my approach anyway

im just saying let the hobby shop guy show him how to do it, so the problem can get fixed, then he will know how to fix the problem if anything like this happens again.

Jsswcks,
It you want to save yourself a little bit of money, keep the motor you have (I assume it's a 15FE) and buy HPI's stage 2 upgrade kit for $60.00. You get the 5.5 2 needle carb and the ABC piston/sleeve/rod combo. With those upgrades, the 15FE becomes a 15SS and you save $40.00 in the process.
You know, I don't really think that the HPI exchange program is as hot a deal as it appears. You send them your motor and for $100.00, they send you a 15SS. Spend and extra $20.00 or so and you can keep your current motor as a backup and still buy an OS or something like that. Just something you may want to consider.
