Default Finally.......

Just this past weekend My son and I took his nitro truck out for the first time. we had a blast. Ran the truck hard. All went well. Lots of bashing. For those who say that redcat racing nitro trucks stink, I beg to differ. For a 6 yr old I feel it was perfect. Awesome first timer truck, the VolcanoSV 30 took a beating and kept coming back for more........ Lots more bashing to come once the weather gets even better. ThanksRC Universefor all your good advise.......

redcat has made allot of changes, the early vehicals are what the problem was
i have a redcat backdraft 3.5 and at first everything was breaking, i got it all upgraded and now it takes a beating.
watch for your clutch to lock up.
now that i have 3/4 gallon run though her my clutch gets hot and locks up.
i will upgrade that next.
i never broke anythikng for the last 6 runs with some hard bashing. untill today
i slid sideways in a skid into a plowed snow bank and busted the rear hub. luckily i had 1 left so i just fixed it.
i also was jumping and it landed on the front wheels and flipped on its roof, and busted the aftermarket wing.
oh well another $7 wing no big deal.

Yes redcat did come along way. And so did their prices seeing now they are getting close to the cost of ofna and HPI gear.

the main things disliked about redcat are parts availability, after market support, and its stock durability. Part support and aftermarket support are strictly through redcat(or one of the few online dealers). Lets face it none of the aftermarket companies make a thing for redcat, most hobby shops don't stock a single part (and can't order them) so you are completely at the mercy of the internet shops for support.

Durability wise you said you were breaking everything left and right. I hate to ask how much did upgrading it all cost you(please also include shipping to show how fast it adds up) to get to a durability level that most RTRs from the other companies are at stock?

Honestly I think redcat makes a sharp looking product but they have built up a pretty shaky reputation that will not go away anytime soon.
