Default Speed Cameras

Hi Guys

Here in the uk there are speed cameras dotted all over the place...which I have managed to avoid in my 1:1 so far (hopefully).

Just wondered if anyone had set one off with their rc car? might give it a try lol.

Thing is, those cameras are designed to capture vehicles at a certain size, even a guy on a bicycle going 90 mph through an intersection won't be captured. Same goes for police radar guns, they won't clock a RC car or bicycle accurately. Using a sports radar will work.

I would have thought it would be possible to set a speed camera off with an RC seeing as aparently one was set off by a squirrel here in the UK. Mind you i could be wrong. but when i get my new car im gunna try it.

Set off by a squirrel? LOL was it a flying squirrel? Must've been a sensitive camera or your cameras in UK are all like that.

fast squirrel...hehehe assuming it was a 30 zone, it must have done atleast 35 mph or so to trigger it.

Or was the squirrel zip tied to an rc car?

I think that the UK cameras are triggered but magnetic coupling. Its the metal of the car that is detected between two points of known distance. The time between those two triggers gives you the speed.Older ones were based on pressure. As the tyre goes above the tarmac at the point that the pressure sensor is it gives two triggerings (front and rear axles) but this was totally inaccurate due to different vehicles size. Either way you could just try with your rc car. If you manage to trigger the camera you will see the flash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
