Default scammer?

hey guys I wasn't sure where to post this but here it goes...
I'm selling my crawler in the marketplace section and I have a member interested in buying my truck but I went to his member profile and it says suspended...now i'm even more convinced I got a scammer, it started off with the person offering $200 more than my asking price which I thought was strange but me being the honest guy I corrected him on the price and he said that he will make a paypal pament tomorrow morning and he said he would schedule fedex to pick the truck up from my house. everything about this guy/deal just seems strange...but maybe he's a good guy and I'm just paranoid...

what does everyone think? I just don't want to get screwed!

if he pays by paypal the money is mine and he can't swipe it back or screw me anyway right?

is there a way to contact a Mod to find out why he has been suspended?

Thanks!

If you send a request for money, and he pays. He cannot access your account. Have him put the money in, and you ship next day with confermation #... Don't let him set-up the pick-up. You do that....

Yeah, copy his user name, and contact RCU... They should be able to help you out... Good luck. Never call it being to paranoid, your being cautious... That's a good thing.

I'd recommend to stay away from the buyer. It has signs of scammer and has been suspended for good reason I'm sure. If no money or goods have exchanged yet then that's great, just walk away. In the meantime I'll report this post and mark it for the marketplace mod JWN

Don't post the username or any private info here, but feel free to pm JWN and discuss it privately. Maybe He'll even move this thread to the marketplace problems thread.

I can assure you from the info given you do have a scammer of some sort, or at the very least someone ( a tire-kicker) who you just don't want to deal with. If you get a Paypal payment the buyer can indeed get the payment back and probably will just as soon as you ship the crawler or as soon as he gets it.

good luck.

thanks guys for jumping in with the quick responses!

I did send him an invoice from paypal... I too am a bit uneasy about this person setting up the pickup.

if you could forward this to a mod I would appreciate it!

I was going to post his name but I don't want to trash someone incase he is a good guy...

I wouldn't deal with this guy.

Even if the PayPal money is deposited into your account. He can still file a complaint with PayPal and there is a great chance that he will get his money back even after he receives the RC. Most of the time, PayPal is in favor of the buyer.

If you absolutely have to deal with him, tell him to send you a check and let it cleared and then ship the truck out.

I was selling a phone on the internet and this guy offered me $800 for a $100 phone and told me to ship to some address using Fedex. He even sent me a fake PayPal email saying that he has sent the money. However, I found a flaw in the PayPal email. At the bottom of the email, there was some kind of ad which didn't make sense.

This issue is being handled so we are going to lock this one down. RCU Moderator JWN handles the Market Place and is the person to ask these kind of questions. Thanks Dave
