Hey guys... this is my first post on here so I'm not sure really where this post belongs. About 5 years ago I noticed a Tyco RC Fast Gear carthatwas mis packaged. I bought it assuming that maybe one day it would be worth something lol. Can anyone tell me if I'm wasting my time wondering. It is a green Mini Cooper but the dock is marked Dodge Viper. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

In the RC world I don't know if anyone cares about packaging but there could be a market for it. I can tell you that as a former Hot Wheels collector that mismatched packaging can be worth something IF there is a market for it.

Agreed, the only place that I have seen mismarked packaging worth money is in the video game sector (look at what a Final Fantasy VII with a spelling error is going for, it is crazy)

Well how do I create a market for it? I'm broke and me and my family need money LOL. Maybe I should put in on Ebay and title it "EXTREMELY RARE MISMARKED TYCO CAR" and start bidding at 100,000
haha.. Oh well guess I will just hang on to it and see what happens.

Ok I did that just now... wasn't sure what to put for the asking price so I just put the original price I paid, but included that I won't sell it for that.. Here is the link if you want to check out a picture of it.www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm

Yea odds are you most likely won't get much for that. It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, I know this from formerly being in the die-cast collecting business. If it was something really popular, like stated the Final Fantasy game, and people REALLY wanted to get their hands on it, it would be profitable. Or say with my die-casts (nascar), they spelled something wrong on the car itself, it would be worth a few extra bucks. But all in all, since it's just a Tyco RC car, it probably isn't worth anything extra.

Yeah I know.. I was just being hopeful because I'm broke haha.. My daughter wants it to play with..of course if I do that then it will probably become rare and I will be screwed... Just my luck lol

One thing that you may want to show is that it is factory sealed. If you can not prove that it is probably going to be hard to sell as anyone could have bought two and just made a mistake when they returned one or something like that .

That's another thing. I doubt anything would be worth any extra because it was put in the wrong packaging, only because anyone can just swap it, seal it back up, then sit back and say they never touched it.

hell at the store it was picked up at, someone might have opened a few, and the workers found them and just flung them back in any box, and sell it as never opened. (I've seen it happen)
Sealed hotwheels/action figures where you can tell if it was tampered with are another thing all together.

Yeah it'sdefinitelyfactory sealed, but I can see your point.. It was on the shelf at Toy's R Us when I bought it and there were several of them that were like that.. I would have bought more but I couldn't see wasting my money on more than one..especially if they were never going to be worth anything. Yeah if it was just one on the shelf like that I wouldn't have bought it, but there was no doubt a mistake made at the Mattel factory when they wereboxedup.

No offense or anything, but this mismarked packaging doesn't make sense to me. Why would there be a market for it? Can somebody explain? I don't really get it

Yeah I don't understand it either, but there is. I guess people like to collect stuff like that before themanufacturerrecalls is, I guess. Then any that are left out there become rare. I didn't think this was going to be the case when I bought this RC car, but you never know... That's why I bought one. I coulda bought about 20 of them, but them I would have 20 cars that are no good to me lol
