Not sure how many of you got a glimpse of the new RCU last weekend, but to be honest, I don't like it at all. This layout is much cleaner and easier to use. Just wanted to hear everyone elses thoughts...

Yeah, I saw it but liked vbulliten way better. I assumed that they decided not to keep the changes b/c they never did anything else about it, but maybe they were just testing it before permanately uploading it to the servers...

But yeah, I like the current set up a lot better, easier to use, etc.

I thought that it might just take a while to get used to because it's new, but every other rc board I've been to for the first time was a lot more 'welcoming'.

Yeah, vBulletin has become the standard or "norm" for forums now so everything else seems strange. But the new set up did seem needlessly complicated, I dont think it let me post but i seem to recall that it was difficult to find where to post...

Yea, everytime I tried to post something I had to do something to my account, and it still didn't let me post. Very complicated. There were places that I was at that I thought were different. Not fun.

I like this layout alot, but I am willing to give the new one a try. I hope there are some new features, but if we have to pay for a photo galler, Im gunna be mad. That sounds so stupid.

I haven't heard that you might have to pay for the gallery, but I heard that you might have to pay to sell stuff. I don't know how that is going to cut down on the scamming that goes on on these boards. Any scammer would pay a $5 fee or whatever it will be to make $90 or something. Oh, and about the photo gallery thing, we can just start a thread for pictures, so don't worry about that.

The new RCU still has a few bugs to work out. Continuously having to log in was a glitch.

If you read the press release and the FAQs (located at the top of each forum), your questions will be answered.

Before making a snap decision, please try the new site once it's up and running. Once you explore the new site, I'm sure you will like it.

I did the beta test, and the new forum should be great. ONE CLICK, and you are on the message boards, very simmilar to these. On the front page, there is a link to a nice feature, where you can rate your car. And in the reasearch function you can look at radios, engines, cars, accesories, and tonnes of other stuff, and look at recommended accesories for your car, and than compare up to 3 items, side by side. Trust me.. the new RCU will be great!

P.S. One thing that I really didnt like was the full page ads. Though I only saw two in the hour which was bearable (it takes money to run a forum like this!). I just hope that rate doesn't increase. It is REALLY full page, and there is only a small toolbar at the top that sais"skip this ad" And, you can get rid of all the popups, and have free insertion in auctions and classifieds, for only abot $1.50 a month.

gmac,

Yes, you can still use the forums for free. It's all spelled out in the FAQ page (see my prior post on this thread).

I hate the new forum becuase I found it horribly confusing, I couldn't find my way around at all.
honestly, I really did try it but to me all I saw was this: 'RC universe"

"hewifiwahfoiuhweoiuhfiwefihbgfihewfhbwhefbwebshfbs dahfbdsfbsekhdfbkhwebskfhwekfbewkhfbkhfhfbahkbfeak bfkhdasfbkdhafkhdsafbakdhfbkdahfbkhdafbdkafbkdafbd kljfbjbdkafbkdfbjdkfbdakfbkadbkadfbkakbdfbeqwkrfhp oiqehtugfrewgboewusagfborpigboerafborbvcorewfbpewi bsf"

I couldn't find the forums ANYWHERE!!

would it be possible to somehow make it where this forum is still up and you sort of click "old forum or new forum" and the posts on the new forum are somehow fowarded here?

I honestly think others will leave too becuase of the new forum, like I said, its just horribly confusing.
