center diffs on buggies?
hey guys.... i am wondering if it is a good idea to lock up the center diff on my buggy... i hear people use silly puddy.... would this work?

That would essentially defeat the purpose of having a center diff but yeah...you can lock it up with silly putty.
It's more benefitial to just experiment with thicker weight diff fluids to give you what you're looking for. |

I’d only use the silly putty thing to lock a differential on the front (4X4) and the rear (any) if that’s what I desired. Even on a 4X4, I’d leave the front alone and to me, the center is better left as is unless you took waverave’s advice and experimented with fluid thicknesses.

i have another thread which states that problem but here it goes.... the spur turns but it doesn't turn the outdrives.... NO power is going to the wheels at all... it is just free wheeling.

I'd say you lost a gear or two in there, maybe a pin. Pull it out and check it, the problem should be very obvious.

see the thing is if i roll the diff manually backwards, it starts to re-engage..... so i have no idea, tonight when i get home from work i will take it out.... but i still don't know how it is put together since i have no instructions with it.
