Broken Buggy?

1 Attachment(s)
Ok, long story short: I was racing my Inferno sports buggy in my street and this stupid porshe ran it over and didn't stop. Nothing was broken but a couple engine fins were smashed. Everything else is ok and untouched. Now, my engine will not start. The compression is fine and everything is ok. The only thing I noticed was that the fuel was not getting pulled into the carb as i pulled the pull start(with thumb over carb opening) and this seems to be the only problem. Will i need a new engine? The fuel filter is clean and ok. Thanks for any advice

Sounds like the carb is damaged, or at least the high speed needle. your gas tank might have a pinhole leak also. If I were you I'd find the car, egg it, then run lol.

you have to understand that streets were not made for RC cars and that most people do not know that they cost 200-1000 dollars. But ill agree with you, that really sucks.

Well, I know that the case is not cracked beacuse Ive taked the engne apart and put it back together. The engine is perfectly ok internally, but i have not fiddled with taking the carb off. The engine is a gs-21 pullstart engine. So I am going to take the carb off rihgt now and see if there is anything wrong. Does the type of carb(if i need a new one) matter any good ones to use in my engine? should i get a new cylinder head or will performance still be the same? Should I just go with a new engine all together? Is the Os .21 rz a good choice(dont worry, ive learned from my mistake)? Thanks for your help

RE: Broken Buggy?

The type of carb really doesn't matter just as long as the carb will fit snuggly into the intake manifold (where the carb meets the engine). I'd get a two needle carb, preferably a Novarossi or O.S. carb because they are the best that I have come accross in holding their tune. By getting a new(two needle) carb, it will greatly affect the engine's performance for the better. The best part is: You don't have to make any other mods to the engine to make it work. Just put the carb in, tune it up, then let'er rip!

I'm willing to bet there's a crack in the crankcase, probably not visible to the naked eye but I'm certain there's one somewhere and the carb is another possible issue.

That dumbass in the Porsche should get a slap in the face for not stopping to let you drive off the road. I've been told by a friend of mine about a story that he was once driving his Bruiser (yes, Tamiya Bruiser) around his street and his neighbour which was an old grumpy woman got in her mini van then waited for him to get his Bruiser back on the street by her driveway and then drove right over his truck intentionally. This was like 15 some years ago, and she didn't like kids.

How dare that porsche driver expect the road to be free of toys running around on the same road that is there for REAL CARS, Be real, the guy was way to busy making a phone call, reading the paper, eating a Big Mac, trying to find a CD to listen to and arguing with his wife all at the same time. Do you think he has time to look for your toy running around? I think not!,,,, Sorry about your luck.

ya lets throw an egg LMAO

Well, I took the carburator apart totally and put it back together with lube n stuff, and still, there is no suction. I think id wrather get a new engine beacuse i will be sure it will run. I dont even know the source of the problem. Engine suggestions?? os .21 rz is the engine im focusing on or a nova rossi. Im probably going to get one off ebay beacuse of the huge price difference. Thanks!!

Slayer........it sounds like to me , there is a slight air leak , and i bet i know where it's at. I had the same thing happen to my engine , but it was from losing control and slamming it into a fire hydrant at about 35MPH!! What had happened was right where the carb attaches to the block , (where the stem for the high speed needle is) , there was a super small seperation between the brass fitting and the casting of the actuall block of the motor. I took the motor off the buggy , took the pipe off , put a little fuel in the carb and turned over by hand. I then blocked both the exaust and the intake with my finger's and tried to turn the motor over. What i saw was some really small little air bubble coming from that seperation. I took the motor ( RB C4) to the hobby shop and got a new carb ordered for it.

the Carb it'self wasn't damaged , but the stem for the high speed was , and i didn't want to take a chance and try to rig another one back onto that carb just in case. After i got the new carb..........she fired right up!! Well............hope that gives you another option , instead of going out and buying a whole new motor.

Time to share my story, just got off the phone with the LHS guy (his helper actually), says he let a customer test drive my car and didn't extend the antenna on the transmitter, causing the car to run off on him into a wall. He then bought my car without my knowledge, I was going to sell it to caseyddr and was told by my father at the very last moment. Kind of pisses me off if you ask me, and that car hasn't had a single thing break until then, and I asked the LHS helper what broke, he tells me the fuel tank and front bumper and servo horns broke. At least I got the money out of it.

It sucks to bust a car, even if it's been sold. :(

JEFFRO503 -

Do you still have that motor? Just out of curiousity, you should try covering that seperation crack w/ a little JB Weld. That stuff works great, I used to seal a crankcase on an old ATV. Still holding strong after 10 years.
