Because I knew what it was? :p

In fact the was the only pic I expanded. Where'd you get the valve? Or did you make it?

RE: Id rather be BLOWN!!

A quote from that website I refered to.............

"Screw type blowers are more expensive to make, so they are not very popular on street engines, but are getting more and more popular as prices are coming down.
At low boost levels, 15 psi and under, it is not worth the extra expense over a roots supercharger. At high boost levels it's efficiency really begins to pay off, making it
the better choice. " End of quote.

And about the valve..... Im poor, remember? As a small buisiness owner I have
a line of people with they're hand open forming at my door and going around the block . The thing around here that wears out the most is my pen from writing
checks. The valve is old technology but is solid brass. Worked well. But you can
see how compact the unit is.

RE: Id rather be BLOWN!!

Ya. Is the valve like a quarter turn wide open type deally? From the pic, I can’t see a fitting, a hole, nuttin’. Or maybe I do, just barely see something over the horizon of the valve in the pic. The valve tip appears to be knurled. For something to that of a servo arm?

Or maybe you’d be telling too much?

Just bring the dang thing over and we’ll talk about it over some coffee or sommat. :p

[edit]On second look, the pic's just slightly out of focus and the tip appears to be slick. Hmm, well you've got me stumped.

Just a tease (valve) for whoever gives a crap. Ok. Progress on the
blower. I could not be more pleased at the way housing
is taking shape. CNC'ed the external "pretty" and there was
no room for error. A blower should look like a blower. Got
the rotors ready for anodize.

ya I saw the bottle, looked a little like Jag RC's bottle. I was like hm!

Nice looking ribs.

I see an inlet perhaps but no outlet, could be vice versa.

I’ll wait till the “connecting” parts come out for before the criticism starts. If there is any. :p

I've been reading this forum from the start and I just have to say that your blower is looking AWSOME!!!!! I am but a poor college student and wish that I had tha machining capabilities that you have.

Where is Newark CA? I live in S CA 'bout 2 hrs north of LA. Just wondering how close you are and if a road trip could be planned with my cars/trucks and my friends cars/trucks. We are both studying to be engineers and are always looking to broaden our horizons on what kind of machinery and capabilities are out there.........ok ok we wanna see your shop ok? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAS? hehe anyway. Your project is looking great.

My shop is actually in Menlo Park, between San Jose and San Francisco.
Quite honestly, I could show you the whole shop in about two
minutes. But we could talk cars and guitars for hours. As a reference,
we are close to Stanford. http://www.thelasershop.net

yeah man you got skills. do you do your own adonization? or do you have someone chrome it? You keep posting pics of all these parts, but what id love to see is just pics of your car. from what i have seen it must be awesome. you should make custom cars and then sell them here or on ebay.

otterball21 12-15-2003 06:45 PM

RE: Id rather be BLOWN!!

he does have a custom car.. it's OUT OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!... :)

he has a topic where it shows it off, with a porsche body!

RE: Id rather be BLOWN!!

Those parts look Kick *****.

Are you using a cnc mill (3-axis or what?)to cut these parts, or some kind of new "freakin' laser" technology?
I don't think the Eng shop I used to work for could go that small without a LOT of time, many many operations
They look great

Thanks

Aging Bridgeport V2XT, 3 axis. SurfCam. AutoCad. Swear words. Lots of patience.
There's never time to do it right but always time to do it over.

RE: Id rather be BLOWN!!

laser, i truly admire your engineering capabilities, u can literally make your own parts.
no offense tho, but engineerically speaking, if u spin those 2gear type blowers right now at even 90k rpm, it wouldnt even generate and push the same amount of air down the carb versus the carb just pulling air like usual.
i think the blade gears are too small, they will on constrict the flow.

dont let me stop u tho, continue, id like to see this. if i had the capabilities, i would experiment on this as well. maybe start wid a a bigger 4 stroke engine,

why dont u design a trumpet, or turbine style tube and blade, and fabricate a supercharger out of that. the roots style i think is a more dificult process to do.

can i see your machinery someday? im in the bay area.
Jason.

RE: Id rather be BLOWN!!

supercharged and nitrous injected!??
nice work.

how do you plan to solidly mount the supercharger to the block/carby so that u get drive to the blower. looking at your motor pics it looks like mounting it will b difficult, especially to allign everything so u can use a blower belt, n make everything look good?
is a new block etc in order?

hows the blower going given up yet

RE: Id rather be BLOWN!!

I know it's been said but I have to repeat it.... You are awesome at what you do & if I ever need what your shop sells, I know where to look!

Now, the reason for my post. This isn't the type of thing that most R/Cers would put on their bashers but maybe a few of them would like to have one for the concourse. If that's the case, what are the odds that you could machine a non functional version that just looks so pretty it hurts? I'd love to see you put something on the new HPI Hemi body!

Laser you still around?

I was wondering if you ever got your supercharger working? Did you blow your engine like I did? LEt us know?

Also did you ever take any video?
