RE: look at this engine
I have one of those sitting on my workbench. I am not sure of the power but i know that it is designed for airplane use.
|
RE: look at this engine
those are sometimes on free flying airplanes
|
RE: look at this engine
They definitely only for airplane use. I believe they will turn about a 3 inch prop.

RE: look at this engine
Ok, heres the ifo (I have one also):
They are 0.049 engines designed to run on 0% Methanol. They do not have a carburettor as such, they have no throttle control, it is merely start it and leave it till the fuel runs out. They do not have a tuned pipe, they have a few holes at the top of the cylinder, this makes them very noisiy, much noisier than my 0.15 in my on-roader. They heat up like crazy, this is because the un-burned oil and extra stuff that usually gets spurted out the stinger on a car gets spurted out the holes of the cylinder which covers the cylinder, effectively reducing cooling. |
RE: look at this engine
my brother has three of those, he got them from a friend but none of them will run. you can still buy those even though they are discontinued, i saw one last summer in a hobby store for $40 cnd

RE: look at this engine
I have a box full of these at home... They were indeed from control line airplanes... they were meant to run for about a minute then stop... the fuel tank is built into the backplate and mixture is controlled by the single needle... They were a ***** to start and were extremely noisy and dirty... I have fond memories of them growing up.. I even had one in a helicopter, which I still have... maybe 30 years old... probably still works... As far as hp... probably not mote than 1/10 hp...

RE: look at this engine
sorry for the double post.... hit buttom twice... The Helicopter goes straight up for about 15 seconds to about 200-300 feet then the motor stops and it autogyro's down .... It worked real well as long as there was no wind... I lost a few as a child.... saved this one..
