? tank tread using servos
1 Attachment(s)
hey i need some help building a monster rc not makeing treads but it works like them i hav two servos that drive wheels wanting to use rc elect to run my idea is to use a reciver and connect the two servos ( shown here) with a reciver chanel one and two for indpendent wheele movment (ie. one turns foward while other turns backwards to turn)it should work right
also the way their wired now only uses 2 wires do i need to use all three wires with my futabe connectors or can i just use 2 and if i need to use all three where would yhe 3 wire go please help building a mobil missle pad ps want to speed it up to would a bigger reciver bat fry reciver |
RE: ? tank tread using servos
I doubt that servos will drive it since a. they are really slow and to drive it anywhere will take forever and b. servos are only meant to go a certain angle (like spin 90* in each direction) but can not perform a full rotation

RE: ? tank tread using servos
no
- my brother has made robots that use the servos to propell the wheels - the servos are special - full rotational ones. and you can buy fast and high torque servos. |
RE: ? tank tread using servos
these r speical servos their is no petionimeter or limiter from what i understand that is what is used in robot war machines i have a tank tread kit on order for buildin an m1 abrams that has the speical servos like in pic but are pre wired for an rc reciver
this is an old robie jr that has a lost remote i want to get running as a mobil missle launcher to go wit my tank i know it will work i just need to know if i need the 3rd wire for my reciver to run it or if i just need 2 since i really dont need a sensor wire (no petionimeter)and if i do where would i connect it to for bolth im using tamiya staic model kits as body parts ps using same setup as this to actualy launch rocket remotley also plan on turret being functional (example /up/down/left/right movment) i have no brob with limits either i have a 8 channel reciver and remote all vids at end ov thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_36...tm.htm#3786888 |

here is a vid of the components im dealing with went over with camera and working some parts
http://www.rcpics.net/img/72040 and some extra part pics mabey to be used for working lights and sounds |
RE: ? tank tread using servos
sorry but also dont get distracted by the board i wont be using it aat all unless i can figure how it controlls the lights sounds but for now i just want to get it mobile using a reciver
help! |

here is the connector and heres what i need to connect ^^^^^ do i need the signal wire will it work without when connected to reciver on channel 1 and 2
alo anyone know what the max bat voltage i can run into my reciver using standard futaba reciver now once all done ill be using 8 channel remote and reciver |
RE: ? tank tread using servos
max receiver voltage is 6 volts for a standard receiver

under further4 disasmbl foun out i have motors thought i was going to have to go slow with this since it was servo drive bbut these look like 380 size motors gonna go ahead and put 2 baja motors in here and run with my esc wont have 2 stick controll but now ill be able to zoom to the target (my friends nitro truck:D hehehe)
|
RE: ? tank tread using servos
well not going to work i have to have the ind wheel control so if any one knows if i really need thi signal wire to connect or not it would be great
|
RE: ? tank tread using servos
you should mount real rockets on to it. MAy I reccomend estes rockets? get some tiny little ones paint em to look like missiles and then stick in a size a engine and foom! I am tempted to buy a mini heli and attach one to the bottom with a release mechanzim and a starter system! lol :D

RE: ? tank tread using servos
one step ahead of ya thats was the whole bassis of my proj
started with my rc10 with a kick pluss it will be fun to try n blow up my buddys junk nitro car[sm=bananahead.gif] http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_36...tm.htm#3786888 |
RE: ? tank tread using servos
yes you do need the signal wire. servos are stepper motors, they require a signal to tell them to move and how fast... as far as the limited rotation, it is EASY to modify any regular servo for unlimited rotation, takes about 5 minutes counting the time to take it apart and put it back together.

RE: ? tank tread using servos
theese r not servos thougt they where but on dissasamble found 380 motors
if u use my reciver can i just plug + - in on a futaba conector to each motor and plug into my reciver so i can have ind controll over each motor (using ch 1 fr one motor ch 2 for other ) i dont expect too much speed just need to make this thing move so i can start on the turret and rocket ingintors |
RE: ? tank tread using servos
well thought someone here might know but oh well im just going to do it if i fry my reciver i can always go get another so here we go anyone intrsted if it works ill post how i did it and some pics of the finiushed project
im gonna start build tommorow so if u can help please leave meassage before 5 tommorow thanks |
