RE: nitro or electric
Was it really necessary to start this argument again. There are tons of threads on this debate and they have got very long. We dont need another one. Just my 02 cents.

Man you are begging for an argument.[X(]
It depends on what your into. I have both and like them equally for different reasons. |

RE: nitro or electric
guys take it easy on s7jstep1 , he is new to RCU and has no idea what topics were discussed in the past. When you were new I`m sure you asked and did a lot of stupid things. Or maybe you are perfect ;)
s7jstep1 , to answer your question. If you are new to RC start with electric and work your way up. There are too many people that start out with nitro and have nothing but problems , like blowing motors and other mechanical issues . Nitro takes a little more mechanical knowhow then electric . Both are fun and the both have good sides and bad . |
RE: nitro or electric
hi,
ive been trying to reasurch the diference between a 3 channel radio and 2 channel radio. i resently got a spektrum dx2 and was told i made a mistake by not getting the dx3. he could never tell me the diference besides ones 3 and the other is 2. i might be in the wrong forum asking this but got tired of looking and settled for this one. thank you for your help. |
RE: nitro or electric
The DX2 is a two channel radio, which is fine, the DX3 is a three channel radio. They both are great but the DX3 would have been better as you would have had more room to expand when you use something that needs or can use a third channel

RE: nitro or electric
i have a ntc3 was to choice i made a good one far as radio choice

RE: nitro or electric
Its this simple, Get both NITRO and ELECTRIC, so you will know.
You cant decide just by what we tell you, you have to get your hands on both of them, then you decide what's best for you. Just my opinion. |
RE: nitro or electric

RE: nitro or electric
That's really a personal preference. I'v always prefered Nitro over electric. When I got into the hobby in the early 80's I had a hard time getting electrics to run good. But nitro. Just start the engine and keep refueling. Sure I had trouble with that at firts but after I got experience and learned from other drivers engine trouble went away. And I used to race my car, not play in parking lots. It was 1/8 gas on road.

RE: nitro or electric
nitro is faster and better for huge open spaces, fuel can become a little costly if you are not careful. You can easily use a gallon of fuel in a day costing $10-15 (sorry if im wrong about the fuel cost as i use £).
Electric is not as fast but it can be a little quicker (you can also run them in your house) the cost of batteries and peak charger can hit hard at the beginning but when youv'e got them you dont need to buy them again when they are flat. It also is much more simple (no cold/hot day wet/dry day setups)just put the batteries in and go. It is personal preference (but nitro is always the best as you can never go fast enough) |

RE: nitro or electric
Why do people act like nitro is so much easier, instead of refueling change the battery, WOAH!!!!!

RE: nitro or electric
Electric all the way.

Here's probably the longest and most informative debate ever done on this topic: [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3249915/anchors_3249915/mpage_1/key_nitro+AND+electric/anchor/tm.htm#3249915[/link].

RE: nitro or electric
I have both and like both really much although I like electric a bit better shhh don't tell my savy! lol Both are very different R/C expereinces. Nitro is not just pour in fuel and go as you need to tune and sometimes the engine can get really annoying. Nitro I find is more meant for weekends when you have a lot of time to kill. Electric is just pop in the batteries and go. While nothing can match the realism of nitro, nothing can match the simplicity of electric. Nitro is also way more expensive! I say start out with electric and work your way up. Both are fun and you just need to find the one that's right for you. For me its one nitro car just to experiment with and a whole slew of electrics. If someone asked if I'd buy another nitro I'd say no but I always want to have one that's up to date and fun to drive.
