Running in snow

We don't get alot of snow here in the south but we're suppose to have a couple inches over then next couple days.
I don't think I can pass up the chance to race around in the white stuff. :)
I just sealed up my receiver. Wrapped it in plastic and painted it with enamel just to be safe. What other concerns should I have. I already plan on doing a complete tear down to clean/dry the truck. Figure the bearings will need to be treated to a little tlc.
My main concern are the servos, transmission, and the engine.

we actually had snow here in Texas a couple days ago, but I couldn't get up the nerve to try it. I seem to be having a little radio trouble currently. Ah, new post!!!!

Thanks for the link. I've sealed up everything electrical. Headed to the hobby store tomorrow to pick up some paddle tires. Got a can of WD40 and a hair dryer. Let it snow. :)

Guess I need to adjust my clutch down to maximum slip. Can't image having much traction. Just hope I can steer....

Man, whats it like not running in snow??? :)
I live in Michigan and just got into gas trucks. I'm out sweeping the track of snow and looking for any piece of gravel without snow to run in.
Been thru my first 2 gallons of gas and it hasn't been over 35 degrees yet.
Can't wait till spring!

Snow is a blast. I put sand paw tires and ski's on an RC10GT. Check it out.http://www.island-designs.com/pictur...RC10GTSKI2.JPG

We run in the snow lots (10 months of winter ) and have experimented with skis. With the skis on the trucks they didn't steer well at all on hard pack. On softer snow the skis worked better but now the rear tires would just sink or spin down. We ended up going back to front tires which worked much better since the truck will only go on hard packed snow anyway. It was a great winter project though. Wait a minute, maybe tracks on the back, I wonder. :D :D

I am still in the experimental stage on snow. I have run with the directionals and it is fun. My first set of ski's were narrow and they steered incredible. Problem was they would not lift over any of the deeper snow. This wider set does not steer as well but if you are up to speed the truck stays up and fast through the snow. Tonight I added some strakes or runners on the edges of the ski's. I will give it another run tomarrow. It was too #*@! cold to stay out for more than 15 min with out gloves today 7°. I have an O.S.CVRX on this truck with an 18 tooth clutch and a 62 tooth spur gear. This thing flies across the snow.

That's cool!!!
I was in Yellowknife NWT 10-12 years ago and saw a conversion kit for a full size truck that looked kinda like that. Only difference was that the full size deal had a carrier built out from the frame in front of the rear tires to accommadate a track set up. I guess it would be a half track when it was done.
