Fail safe issues with range?

Has anyone had issues with their fail safe sort of going wacky when the car is far away? I have an ofna fail safe and I'm using a futaba fm radio on my Jato. It doesn't do it with the steering, just the throttle, thats why I'm assuming its the fail safe.

One of the purposes of a failsafe is to activate when the radio signal is low or lost. So since you mention you are having a problem when the car is far away and it only impacts your throttle, I would say your failsafe is working as designed. I always check my failsafe before I start by turning on my car/radio then turining the radio off and checking my car to see if the throttle servo/ESC moves to the failsafe psoition. How far away is your car when you are having these problems? And what kind of radio are you using?

I have the same problem with my venom thermal fail safe. I heard alot of complants that the radio range drops by half when using a failsafe

I'm using a futaba FM radio, their latest non synthesized. I'm also using a novak receiver, could that be the issue? The distance it cuts out isn't really that far, not enough to do a good top end pass (the jato does take a little while to completely wind out). I'm pretty confident with the radio so I may remove it.

Most modern radios have excellent range, several hundred yards? It appears something is causing interference and reducing your range. Batteries fresh? Antenna ok (both transmitter and receiver)?

Like I said before, it could be your failsafe. Take off your failsafe, put your car up on a stand or some blocks (so the wheels can spin) start it up, then take the walk LOL.

see if your range increases. If it does = failsafe, if it doesn't = radio
