i hope to have it up and runningby the weekend if not then by next tuesday so i can go to rev before i move out of state.


i'll know hopefully by tomorrow night depending on tomorrows deeds that must be done what my plans are with all this and let ya all know if things are up for grabs or if i am going to use them still myself.

was speaking with the guys at ofna and they mentioned that all the 9.5 and ultra mbx pro parts are pretty much interchanchable. so that might be an option, or just get another mbx pro and sell the no used parts i will not need like remote, servos, motor, pipe and so forth.

i think those are back ordered though.

or wait for the savage ss to come out and use my electric till then. naaaah not loud enough. lol

"Well this is whats left" Damn, Ive never seen a buggy chassis tweak like that ever!! It doesnt look to bad until you show the bottom of the chassis, then you get the full affect, my wife was even going "HOLY *****" That has got to be the worst wreck Ive seen!! Good luck with the rebuild!!

I own an MBX R2, I had no idea the 9.5 was compatable with MBX parts, the R2 is pretty much the same as the Pro minus the kickup chassis & alum brace. The LHS guy told me about getting a 9.5 chassis when I was picking up an LX chassis for kickup upgrade and I didn't know what he was talking about. I might get threaded shocks and maybe radio box from a 9.5 then.

you may want to ask ofna about buying a rolling chasis from them. my lhs "claims" that the ofna rolling chasis's that he was selling came straight from ofna. i've heard they have a great customer service department that gets parts for warranty issues out to people pretty quick, so maybe thats why they have rolling chasis's to sell. anywho........goodluck!!

I've actually heard different stories about OFNA's support dept. I've heard stories about sarcastic anus attitude and some with really helpful guys such as your's. Worst support I've had were from computer companies (VERY common) being a telecommunications employee... I haven't dealt with any in RC yet, but I've had bad experience with Excelhobby which is a store.

While we're on the subject about fail safe, I'd like to see others of how and where you others setup your FS unit in the car. I place mine on top of the steering servo in the T-Maxx and Terra Crusher, and on the side of the radio box of the MBX.

Note how my radio & battery are fit snugly :)

i was doing a test, trying to find a glotch, i thought it was in the fail safe but in reality it was the reciver itself.

I have an idea, next time you see your FS tell you something and you want to take it off to test how it responds, put the car on a stand if you have to run the engine for full observation of the test. Does that sound good, I might just do that myself.

Same packs from Megabatteries on ebay and here's one, item 3138518734 . You might be better off with 2/3 A hump cells, but with a small receiver like the Novak XXL these packs will be fine.

One thing about the flat pack I have, the Futaba switch doesn't fit, a smaller one might work, I use a Y-cable to turn the radio on instead of using a switch.

a couple days and 60 dollars later i have fully rebuilt the car.

i went into ofna and talked with quite a few people there.

some were much more helpfull then others.

a warning to all who drive ofna, if you ever call for tech support and get some guy named steve, imediatly ask for someone else. he is a ***** and in it for the money. there are others who will help you as one would expect without the bad attitude, such as angel, sean or rob (although rob is the web guy he was very down to earth.) turns out steve will do a s little as he can and just try and take ya for a few dollars.

i ended up having to go back twice to get all the parts for the car, the second day i was taken care of great, all the parts i got were hooked up, pipe, servo tray supports, and so on. small stuff but it was nice to know that some of the guys working at ofna are there for their customers even though others are there for the buck only.

will be out and on the road again today with it.
i am still in shock that it is back in perfect new looking shape.
i went out and bought a 3 channel fm radio for it as well as reinstalled the fail safe. i can only hope it will not have this issue again.

the reciever melted from theinside out is still one of the strangest things i have seen.

seems that everyone at ofna has now seen the worst wreck ever too.
guess i could be proud of that at least, ha ha ha ha

hey dont feel bad i have a friend who has a rc10gt and let me drive it and the reciver batt. came off it went wide open into the road and got run over by a chevy tahoe he didnt have a fail safe or a throttle return spring on his he had to replace EVERYTHING from the fuel tank back. like $250 worth he should have just bought a new car instead

Thats great news!! How cool is it that the parts were only $60! When you say you went to OFNA, do you mean they have a sales or field office near you? If so thats also pretty great!

yeah i went to the main Office.
it's in Laguna about 20 minutes south of me.

the parts would have been 120 if i went to my LHS, i got 50% off due to the faulty reciever. although personally me and everyone there thought it should be warrentied for that except for the one guy who wanted to loose no money on it.

it was nothing i expected, all the cars come in premade and pre boxed from tiwain and the just go from there with it all.

can anyone clarify what a throttle return spring is and where it would be located, on the servo horn, throttle arm, etc? I have a spring on my throttle arm but when I flip the switch to OFF it cannot return the servo back to neutral. Is this what a throttle return spring is?

Like this one in the picture, it won't be that effective if the power switch is turned off and the servo is still on. It's more useful for when the throttle link actually breaks off, a fail safe is better off for when the radio actually fails.

What is there that can be done if your batties fail or if they get disconnected in a crash. Is there a fail safe that would return the servos to full brake with no power? Or do some have a small power source?
