Buy a RX with failsafe ASAP!
(and check cycled battery capacity)
For anyone with a bog standard radio/RX set - this should change your mind.
The receiver that's bundled with my 3PK has saved my FG Leopard from another expensive crash due to radio loss/battery level. My brother lent me his freshly charged brand new 2100mah 5 cell sub c battery pack. I test the pack and it looks OK. Fitted to my Leopard, and fine for 15 minutes, then the car stopped. huh- steering works but throttle doesn't. I take it back to my bench. Now steering not working. Take battery out, and totally flat. Replace with another battery pack that I now is OK- fine. The TX failsafe has been set for full brake, and battery low level enabled. Thank god.
I do a cycle and the pack is only receiving 150mah charge!
So if you don't have a low battery fail safe, buy one now. Checking battery capacity is best with a cycle beforehand, and perhaps I should have done that. But you expect a new pack to be OK. I think in the future I will test all packs before using (I did a cycle on my TX pack and that showed correct amount) Apparently he was going to fit that pack into a plane! I would be annoyed if my car crashed because of the pack, but I guess if a car crashes less damage than a large scale plane that would've been written off.
I'm also going to add a second battery source for throttle failsafe in case of primary battery failure - ie disconnection.

RE: Buy a RX with failsafe ASAP!
For those that runs FG's and other cars with Ignitions with kill switches, look at one of the Zenoah Failsafes, where the Engine is cut out in case of power loss, even if the battery wire breaks.....
Sorry, I don't have any product names handy. I am looking for one....

That would be useful as well. If the battery pack connector is pulled the servo/throttle will stay at the current position- even with a strong spring I don't think it pulls the throttle back. If the gear strips it'll probably pull back, but not with just the servo powerloss.
