Default cuttin battery wires?

Ok i have a Rc10gt with the origonal battery pack that u need to put batteries in to....and then i have another car that i dont use n it has a the same battery pack but with rechargables and but they are wraped with something. so i cant get them out. But i was wondering if i can split(cut) the wires and put them on my RC10gt and just wrap up the wires really good so it doesnt come apart.

Default RE: cuttin battery wires?

Sort of.

If i understand what you're saying, you have an RC10GT with a 4 cell receiver pack that takes AA's. You also have another car that has a rechargeable receiver pack that you'd like to use in the GT.

If the rechargeable pack in your other car has 4 or 5 cells, you can use it. Why do you need to cut anything? Is the connector between the battery pack and the switch different between the GT and the other car? If this is the case you could use the switch from the other car too.

If the cars' electronics are really different, you may need to cut the battery out to use it in place of the 4 cell holder in the GT.

Make sure you only cut one battery wire at a time! Even if they are moulded together. Separate the moulded wires before cutting.

Cutting both wires at once will short the battery. Bad news. Damage to the battery, wires, or YOU could result.

Cut one wire, tape it so the contact isn't exposed, then cut the other.

Cut off the 4 cell holder in the GT, and replace it with the battery pack. I highly recommend you solder the connections. Do one wire at a time, solder them together, and tape or heatshrink it. Then do the other. You could twist the wire ends together, but i highly recommend you don't. You're risking losing that connection, and your truck if you do. If you're driving the truck and that battery gets unconnected, you will have no control of the truck and it will continue doing whatever it was doing until something stops it. If you can't solder, chances are you know someone who can, or take it to your LHS for help.
