Default Sensor speed sensor install on Revo tutorial

Posted: Sun Oct 08, 2006 8:51 am

Hi I just thought I would throw this out there if anyone is looking for ideas on how to install the speed sensor on there Revo. Now keep in mind that I installed this on a Revo with a center diff on a standard chassis {not the extended version} and do not use the easystart.

Now lets get on with it. If you have done the center diff install you will know that the chassis had to be cut away to make room for the driveshaft in the rear. At least on my install even though I cut some of the chassis away to make room for the rear drive shaft it is still is very close to the chassis. In fact mine rubs just a little bit. With the drive shaft hub being that close to the chassis it makes for the perfect mounting spot for the sensor. What you do is take the rear shock mount out of the vehicle and widen the cut out where the easystart wires used to go through to accept the speed sensor. I had mine so I had to give it a little push and the heat shrink around the sensor would hold it in place. Next you need to do some measuring to determine where to drill the whole in the chassis at so the pick up on the sensor will line up with the magnet that you will embed in the driveshaft hub. Once you have done all of that its time to install. Simply install the sensor in the shock mount and install the shock mount back on the vehicle. When you tighten the mount up it will sandwich the sensor between it and the chassis. This part of my install took a little while because I made the hole in my chassis to big and the sensor would tip down and fall through the chassis. I had to glue a piece of plastic to the shock side of the mount so the sensor could not tip down. You may have to move the sensor forward or back to get it to line up with the magnets. when you are done you will have a nice clean installation that is on top of the chassis.
